Unlike the Jedi, the Sith cannot create a bond with Kyber Crystals. Because the crystals are borderline sentient, they refuse to work with those who follow the dark side of the Force, so the Sith must resort to a process called bleeding.
Does bleeding a Kyber crystal make it more powerful in any way? Not inherently, no. As we are told by Master Yoda in the original trilogy, the Dark Side is not inherently more powerful - quicker, easier yes, but not more powerful by definition.
According to Pablo Hidalgo, of the Lucasfilm Story Group, kyber crystals only bleed during the construction of a lightsaber. So Darth Vader can use Anakin's lightsaber and it will stay blue, and in turn, if Luke or Obi-Wan use Darth Vader's lightsaber it will stay red. Conceivably indefinitely.
There is no definitive explanation yet. However, it makes sense that it would be how the inquisitors obtained red colored crystals - they were all Jedi before falling to the dark side. They were likely instructed by Vader or Sidious/Palpatine in how to bleed their crystals as part of their training.
He tracked Jedi Master Kirak Infil'a to the river moon of Al'doleem and confronted him. Vader eventually killed the Jedi Master and retrieved his curved-hilt lightsaber. He headed to Mustafar, where he bled the lightsaber's crystal, turning it from green to red.
Ren chose the crystal from his own lightsaber for this procedure, whereas his grandfather Darth Vader, the Sith persona of Anakin Skywalker, bled the crystal of a lightsaber that he claimed from Jedi Master Kirak Infil'a.
The technical reason behind Kylo Ren's unstable lightsaber and his crossguards is because he cracked his kyber crystal. This happened after his fall to the dark side when he “bled” his original blue crystal to red. And the impressive-looking crossguards are meant to vent the unstable crystal.
WHAT IS THE RAREST KYBER CRYSTAL COLOR. The black lightsaber is the rarest color in the Star Wars saga. That's because it's the only one that has been seen. The Darksaber was the first Mandalorian child in the Jedi order.
Notes and references. ↑ Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi states that Double-bladed lightsabers, including those used by Imperial Inquisitors contain two kyber crystals.
Though the crystals originally emitted a red blade, she purified them with the Force, turning them white. The hilts of the lightsabers were originally created from pieces of scrap metal that Tano had acquired over the year since the fall of the Republic, but were later modified to be more functional and decorative.
During the Clone Wars, it was common practice to wipe the minds of astromech droids after every mission to avoid the risk of Separatists taking valued information. But Anakin remained staunchly against this idea for R2-D2, meaning the droid never had to worry about losing the memories of his past.
Anakin Skywalker is the son of Shmi Skywalker, born without a father through the Force.
While George Lucas has never officially commented on it, it's agreed upon that when someone's eyes turn yellow, it means they are fully immersed in the dark side of the Force. They've lost control of emotions such as hatred, letting the dark side take over momentarily.
The Sith apprentice Darth Maul wielded a double-bladed lightsaber made by joining two hilts together end-to-end. Maul's dexterity and extensive training allowed him to use his weapon as a single-bladed saber, or to activate both crimson blades and fight multiple opponents at once.
Properties. Kathracite crystals were the weakest of the Adegan crystrals and often used to create training lightsabers for the younglings who were apart of the Jedi Order.
The lightsaber's amethyst color was chosen by the actor portraying Windu, Samuel L. Jackson, who wanted a purple lightsaber because he was "the second baddest Jedi in the universe" and so he could find himself among the many Jedi featured in the Battle of Geonosis scene.
Black lightsabers are extremely rare in the Star Wars universe, and only a few have been seen on screen. These lightsabers are typically associated with the Dark Side of the Force and wielded by Sith or Dark Jedi. The most well-known black lightsaber is the Darksaber, which was created by the first Mandalorian Jedi.
The crossguard blades allow Ren's saber to operate safely – his weapon is constructed around a dangerously flawed kyber crystal, which would be overloaded if not for the lateral plasma vents that create the quillons.
The Star Wars Analyst theorizes that Kylo Ren was probably instructed by Snoke to take a different Jedi's crystal, and that he wouldn't just bleed the crystal of a random student at Luke's Jedi Temple. “I think that Kylo actually took Luke's green crystal, making his lightsaber all the more significant,” he says.
A crystal embodies the Jedi as the heart of the lightsaber, and pure kyber has no color until it's bonded to the Force user. This process likely resulted in Rey Skywalker's lightsaber being yellow.
Arguably, some of the rarest types of Jedi were the so-called Iron Knights. These are members of the Shards species - crystals with a brain of their own. They were Force-sensitive and all trained under the tutelage of Jedi Master Aqinos. The Shards had droid bodies, similar to that of General Grievous.
Its core contains a kyber crystal, a living crystal that a Force-sensitive can use to bond with the Force. The color of a lightsaber's blade is decided by the kyber crystal contained within it; Sith wield crimson blades because they have bent the crystal to the dark side.
Rey's lightsaber was a yellow-bladed lightsaber that was constructed by the Jedi Rey Skywalker following the First Order-Resistance War.
Even though Kylo Ren uses a red lightsaber, harnesses the dark side of the Force, and wears a cape, he is not a Sith. Because of that, he can never hold the title of Darth. Instead, he was just a chaotic mess of the dark side (until he eventually found his way back to the light).
Encased in a distinctive silver-and-copper hilt, Leia's lightsaber used a naturally-occurring blue kyber crystal, much like Luke's original saber that he had inherited from his father by way of Obi-Wan Kenobi.
