Said envy was extent to Gus due to the latter's status as a South American and quickly winning over Eladio. It was because of this that Hector developed a deep hatred for, a mutual feeling given that he shot Gus' friend - maybe even lover - in front of his very eyes.
Due to Hector's rivalry with Gus, all of his nephews were murdered. Hector decided he had enough so he orchestrated Gus' murder with Walt by attaching a bomb to his wheelchair. He sacrificed himself in the process but Hector was successful in killing his longtime enemy.
In "Hermanos", Eladio says that when he ordered Max killed, he spared Gus because of his unstated but apparently powerful connection to Chile.
After attempting to establish a partnership with the Cartel, Max was murdered by Hector Salamanca on the orders of Don Eladio as punishment for Gustavo's disrespectful actions of manipulating Eladio into a meeting by selling drugs to his men without consent.
Hector Salamanca killed Max Arciniega
However, Gus offended Don Eladio by giving away free samples of meth to the cartel. As punishment, Hector Salamanca shot Max in the head.
Because they wanted to kill Gus's spirit, Max was the one who used to cook the Meth and without Max Gus won't be able to cook.
Gus Fring's Death Is Possible (But Not Realistic)
The blast wave severely injured his right side - but it didn't hit his vital organs, which could explain why Gustavo Fring's death in Breaking Bad wasn't immediate. Much of Gus' head and face was injured, but his skull was still intact.
The boyfriend Gould is referring to is Max Arciniega (James Martinez), who Breaking Bad fans will remember as Gus' friend and business partner.
The gift that Gus Fring gives to Eladio Vuente, Zafiro Añejo is a fictional brand of rare tequila. The writers of the show invented it when they were unable to secure a real product for the scene; no company wanted their product to be the one that poisoned Vuente and his men in the scene. Walt asks Walt Jr.
Gus tells Hector about the deaths of his nephews. “This is what comes from blood for blood, Hector. Sangre por sangre.” Gus's face doesn't reveal a flicker of emotion when he says this.
Hector is a former drug agent who worked for Don Eladio. His family members are very involved in the drug business. After an unexplained incident, he's left paralyzed in most of his body and can't speak or move on his own. His only means of communication is the bell on his wheelchair.
Don Eladio spared Gus' life when he killed Max Arciniega because he knew who Gus was. He recognized him as the man who had built his empire and was therefore not a threat that could be eliminated easily.
Gus Falls Into Walt's Trap — S04E13: "Face Off"
Walt plants a bomb in Hector's wheelchair before one of Gus's visits to him in the hospital. Hector detonates the bomb, yet Gus somehow walks out of the room, making fans fear that he somehow survived.
We learn that both Achilles and Hector are good men. They are driven by courage and nobility; they want only to defend and avenge their loved ones. Each of them is their respective side's best warrior. It's no wonder that Homer wrote so much about them.
Gus Fring's verbal beat-down also confirms (if it wasn't already clear) that the real reason he didn't let Hector die from a heart attack in Better Call Saul season 3 was because he wanted the Salamanca patriarch to watch everything and everyone he loved die before kicking the bucket himself.
When Achilles, the greatest of the Greek heroes, refused to fight because of a quarrel with the Greek commander Agamemnon, Hector nearly managed to drive the Greeks from Troy once and for all. But he made the mistake of killing Achilles' best friend Patroclus in battle.
Gus drinks it anyway. (Earlier, he's seen taking some pills that likely slowed or dulled the poisons working, and when he uses Eladio's bathroom later, he induces vomiting in himself, thus preventing the poison from running its course.)
A Mexican drug cartel wants a big bite of Gus's profits. Walter wants Gus dead and gives Jesse the means to kill him. Hank matches one of Gus's fingerprints at the home of the murdered chemist then wants Walter's help in tracking Gus's movements. Gus stays cool, and we learn some of his Chilean back story.
Hector Salamanca, also known as Don Hector, was the elderly don of the Salamanca drug organization and an associate of cartel boss Don Eladio Vuente. He was the son of Abuelita, the uncle of twins Marco and Leonel Salamanca, Tuco Salamanca, and Lalo Salamanca, and the grandfather of Joaquin Salamanca.
Last chance to look at me, Hector. Gus Fring's last words before his death at Hector's hands.
Max Arciniega was the business and romantic partner of Gustavo Fring and co-founder of the Los Pollos Hermanos franchise. He held advanced degrees in both biochemistry and chemical engineering. Max's education was financed by Gus after Gus rescued him from the slums of Santiago.
As they leave, Arturo brags about his success, but Gus ambushes them and suffocates Arturo with a plastic bag. He then tells Nacho that he knows Nacho switched Hector's medication but has not told the Salamancas, so Nacho is now under his control.
Simple, complicated, it doesn't matter. Steps never change, and I know every step.
Why did Hector Salamanca not give testimony against Jessy Pinkman? Hector Salamanca was not a man to use the law or the courts to exact revenge, nor one to cooperate with the Police let alone on a case that could expose his own illegal behaviors.
