Walt took up smoking when he was a young man overseas as a driver for the Red Cross in France. Like young men in the military when they were confronted by long periods of boredom broken by brief, unexpected moments of intense activity, Walt turned to cigarettes, especially since they were easily available.
Firstly, Walt really wants to steal the ricin from Jesse in the fifth season. Why ? Jesse was ready to disappear with the misterious guy. It appears that the fat black guy stole the pack with the ricin cigarette in it and his pot.
The Danger. While Walter White did not smoke cigarettes, 90% of those affected by lung cancer are smokers. Other causes of lung cancer include environmental or workplace exposure to carcinogens (known cancer-causing agents) such as radon, asbestos, or air pollution.
In the first half of season five, he thought about using it against Lydia, but also decided against that, too. Walt stashed the ricin vial behind the plate of an electrical outlet, and in this season's “Blood Money” flash-forward opening sequence, we saw him retrieve it. So: The ricin still has not been used.
Wilmington is a fictional brand of cigarette featured in Breaking Bad. Jesse Pinkman primarily smokes Wilmingtons, and the cigarettes play a key part in Season 4.
Looking at the cigarette pack and thinking about the missing weed, Jesse has an epiphany. Jesse thinks back to the action of Episode 412 and 413 , when he thought that his girlfriend Andrea's young son Brock was poisoned by the Ricin cigarette that Walt had made and gave Jesse to poison Gus Fring.
While Walt is trying to wake Jesse, he inadvertently and unknowingly knocks Jane onto her back; she starts to choke on her own vomit. Walt rushes to help, but after hesitating for a moment, lets her die, in order to protect Jesse from their eventual overdose, and for self-preservation since she threatened to expose him ...

Brock obviously recognized and was scared of him when he went to Andrea's house in the last season, but based on his actual reaction to Walt, I don't think Brock knew for certain that Walt had been the one who poisoned him. Otherwise he would have reacted much more violently to Walt's presence in his home.
His symptoms got increasingly worse as the series progressed showing that now, he would need treatment for this clinical diagnosis if he hopes to return to any form of a normal life. It is no coincidence that Walt encompasses all nine characteristics of having a narcissistic personality disorder, as outlined in DSM-5.
At the start of the series, the day after his 50th birthday, Walt is diagnosed with Stage III lung cancer.

Jesse, who has arguably suffered more abuse from Walt than even Skyler. Every time he's tried to form a significant connection outside of Walt – Jane, Andrea, Brock, Mike – Walt has taken every single one of them away, either through direct or indirect means.
Feeling guilty after the air crash that ended season two, Walt hastily begins to burn his money on the barbecue. When he changes his mind, he literally sets himself on fire before dumping himself and the money into the pool.
Walt does care for Jesse in his unusual way
Walt may not respect Jesse as a peer, but he does come to genuinely care about him in a semi-familial sense.
Aside from seeing death around every corner, we have to remember that Jesse was abjured by his parents, and he still has PTSD from shooting Gale.
145 is a good estimate of Walter White's IQ. That's just above genius level, which is 140. Somebody with an IQ of 145 is very capable of being a college professor or a chemist.
Pre-Breaking Bad
Jesse Bruce Pinkman was born into a middle-class family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the time the series starts, he has long been estranged from his parents due to his drug addiction and lifestyle as a drug dealer.
Long story short, Walt killed Lydia to protect Skyler and the kids. She was presumably the only Madrigal employee still working on the meth operation.
Right now, there is no antidote for ricin, but the symptoms of ricin poisoning can be treated. Treatment will depend on how the patient was exposed to the poison, but may include help in breathing, as well as fluids and medications given through a vein.
It wasn't, as he so often feared, all for nothing – he found a way to get his money to his children. He also saved Jesse, actually taking a bullet for him by throwing himself on top of the younger man to protect him from the machine gun fire.
After insisting for five full seasons that everything he did, he did for his family, Walt finally confesses that all of his actions were entirely self-motivated.
Walt is bald because of chemotherapy. He shaved his head when he started losing patches of hair because it was going to happen anyway. Before the chemotherapy, and in the last couple of episodes of the series where he is no longer on it, he has hair.
In the original story Walt injects Jane with another hit of heroin while she's unconscious, murdering her. This was toned down to a version where he intentionally turns her on her back so she chokes to death on vomit.
In the series, Jesse is the typical meth addict who little by little loses control of his life and the support of his parents due to his addiction.
As Jesse leaves he hears Walt whistling a cheerful tune and he knows, he f-cking knows, that Walt hasn't lost a wink of sleep over that boy.
