The term “Fake Hashira” acts as a way to remind Guys of his shortcomings and how things could have been different if his friend survived. Ever since Sabito's death, he had this inferiority complex, began distancing himself with others and told himself that he's not worthy of being a Hashira.
He does not think of himself as a true Hashira, despite mastering Water Breathing as he considered his fellow apprentice Sabito, who died saving other Demon Slayers-in-training, more suited for the role. He has developed an additional technique to Water Breathing, which he alone knows.
This fact built his inferiority complex that made him feel unsuitable for a position as a Hashira, persuading him that Sabito would've likely received the mark rather than himself. Giyu's memories of Sabito.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (TV Series 2019– ) - Takahiro Sakurai as Giyu Tomioka - IMDb.
It's his aloof loner attitude. If you read the material enough, you notice that Giyu is a man of few words. He doesn't speak in paragraphs and physically distances himself from others unless in battle. He also says that he's “not like everyone else” and refuses to work with others unless given direct orders.
The Wind Hashira has one of the saddest backstories in Demon Slayer. His mother had turned into a demon and had killed five of his siblings. He was forced to kill his own mother in an attempt to save his only remaining brother, Genya.
Obanai Iguro is one of the harsher Hashira members. He demanded that Giyuu be punished for allowing Nezuko to get away unharmed, and later restrained Tanjiro as he tried to help his sister. He hates demons and has little regard for his fellow Hashira, except Mitsuri Kanroji later on.
In the first season of the Demon Slayer anime, Giyu Tomioka is set next to Shinobu Kocho during the Natagumo Mountain Arc. Though Giyu is much too stoic to openly admit his admiration of Shinobu, it is clear that they share an interest in saving the demons who have had their lives stolen by Muzan Kibutsuji.
Giyu Tomioka Fulfilled His Promise to Protect Tanjiro
The Water Hashira, Giyu, survived the "Infinity Castle" arc after fighting beside Tanjiro against Akaza and Muzan. Though his sword was snapped by Akaza, and he lost an arm to Muzan, Giyu fought with Tanjiro and his fellow Hashira with everything he had.
Full name: Giyu Tomioka. Age: 28.
Yukire Hanazawa ( 花沢 はなざわ 雪 ゆき れ, Hanazawa Yukire?) is a Demon Slayer and the Ice Hashira ( 氷 こおり 柱 ばしら , Kōri Bashira?) of the Demon Slayer Corps.
Giyu would still instruct Tanjiro to train to become a Demon Slayer with Urokodaki. As there is no Nezuko, Tanjiro would have no reason to pity demons, and he'll be much more harsh that he would be if Nezuko was alive.
Yae ( 八 や 重 え , Yae?) is a young woman who joins Giyu Tomioka on his travels in Giyu Tomioka's Story after her father Matazo transforms into a demon.
Giyu is confirmed to be the Water Hashira due to the Demon Mark he acquires later on during the Infinity Castle arc.
Giyuu Tomioka has his own spin-off series, Demon Slayer: Tomioka Giyuu Gaiden.
Giyuu probably didn't even realize his unknowing overdose, Shinobu confirming that it was possibly subconscious. How nobody knew about Giyuu's suicidal ideations, not even Uzui, was shocking. Thankfully, no personal information was revealed about Giyuu's health aside from incredible lack of sleep.
When Giyu later hears about Shinobu's death, he suddenly recalls her smiling face while being visibly shocked and upset by the news. This contrasts to his reaction to death of his other fellow Demon Slayers such as Kyojuro Rengoku, Muichiro Tokito and Genya Shinazugawa, whom he didn't react to as emotionally.
Unfortunately, many fan-favorite characters didn't survive in Demon Slayer, and the Hashira certainly weren't an exception. Demon Slayer's nine Hashira are humanity's last line of defense against the vicious demons that rule the night.
Sanemi is inarguably one of the strongest Hashira in Demon Slayer who has the potential to gain victory over Giyu. Both the characters possess immense speed and endurance, and they also can take on an Upper Rank demon head-on.
Shizuka is seen often teasing Sanemi and making him annoyed, nevertheless, the two had still created a strong bond and relationship with each other. Eventually, after knowing each other for a while, Shizuka finally ended up having the courage and confessed, leading to them getting married after awhile.
The fandom really started to get into this ship when Giyuu was seen visibly reacting to Shinobu's death in the manga, which is a lot for a stoic person like him. This is essentially a non-canon and tragic pairing, and they do not end up together in the reincarnated world post time-skip.
Shinobu's favorite past-time during missions is poking and irritating Giyu, according to a Taisho Secret. She worries about Giyu a lot since he seems like an airhead and got angry after he stopped her from defending him against a demon on Mt. Natagumo.
8 Shinobu Kocho, The Insect Hashira
That being said, she's arguably the weakest Hashira when it comes to pure strength.
Despite her petite appearance, Mitsuri Kanroji has a special muscular composition that makes her muscles eight times denser than an ordinary human's. She is also more flexible than the other Hashira. These two strengths balance out her being the slowest runner out of all the Hashira.
