The famous Street View feature of Google Maps has not been operating with up-to-date imagery in Germany due to decade-old privacy concerns.
German data protection and privacy rules are pioneering
This has led a tradition of strong data protection for German civilians, which has created a barrier to Google's Street View Programme.
In 2010, Google Street View faced backlash in Germany after it was discovered that the Street View cars had been collecting data from unencrypted WiFi networks as they drove around. As a result, Google was forced to halt its Street View operations in Germany and delete the data that had been collected.
Google announced on its German Keyword blog that starting June 22, Street View cars will return to Germany to make recordings all throughout the country, meant to be published in batches in the coming months.

India blocked Street View in 2016 due to national security authorities feeling that freely available photography could assist terrorists. This is believed to have happened during planning for the 2008 attacks in Mumbai.
That's because Google will try to detect your location based on the IP address. Sometimes location databases have incorrect information and end up determining that you are in a different country.
None of the international services offer street view in Mainland China, so you will need to use a domestic China map website - Baidu Map and Tencent Maps both have this feature.

In South Korea, it is illegal to export map data from the country without a permit. Google has not gotten this permit, so they have to show the static map instead of the dynamic map.
This happens because Google determines its users' location by cross-checking the location of where the IP address is with the geolocation data it has of devices that use that IP address.
Yup, that's Google, too. They aren't really a search company anymore – they're a tracking company. They are tracking as much as they can for these annoying and intrusive ads, including recording every time you see them, where you saw them, if you clicked on them, etc.
Google Maps is banned in several countries, including China, North Korea, Sudan, Syria and Iran. These countries have their own mapping services or restrict access to foreign mapping tools due to security or political reasons.
This means from 21 March 2023, no new 360 photos will be on Google Maps, thus preventing anyone from viewing the world and places around them. Google is saying 360 imagery can be uploaded using their StreetView Studio online. But this is not true. StreetView Studio only supports 360 videos.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) imposed a ₹ 1,337.76 crore fine on Google for exploiting it dominant position with the Android operating system. The CCI had asked Google to remove restrictions on phone makers, including those which required them to have pre-installed Google apps.
