During a Formula 1 race, one might have seen red-coloured flags being waved occasionally; mostly after an incident. What does that mean? A red flag is shown to signal that the session has been suspended, at which point drivers must significantly reduce their speed and return to the pit lane.
Like for anyone driving, red means you must stop. The red flag will often come out due to an on-track incident or weather.
Once a rarity that was only used in the most draconian of circumstances, a red flag being shown in F1 means that the session/race has stopped, racing is no longer permitted, and drivers must return to the pits with immediate effect. So if, say, someone has crashed at Turn 6 at Albert Park, which is where Alex Albon crashed in the race, and you are beyond that point you are allowed to complete the lap.
An FIA spokesman confirmed: "This procedure will mean that the safety car will leave the pit lane and then immediately extinguish its lights so that when the field exits the pit lane 30 seconds later, the pace will be dictated by the lead car on the lap to the grid.

The Red Flags Rule seeks to prevent identity theft, too, by ensuring that your business or organization is on the lookout for the signs that a crook is using someone else's information, typically to get products or services from you without paying for them.
A red flag is a pattern, practice, or activity that indicates a possibility of identity theft. These flags produce a three digit score (0-999) that calculates the customer's fraud risk through the credit report. A higher score indicates a lower risk of identity fraud.
With the late-race double red flag stoppages on Laps 55 and 57, the 2023 Australian Grand Prix's three red flags mark it as the most-stopped race in F1's 73 years. Although becoming more commonplace in the sport in recent years, the 1981 Belgian Grand Prix was the only race prior to 2014 that had two red flag periods.
Drivers' Championship leader, German Michael Schumacher, crossed the line second in his Benetton-Ford, but was subsequently disqualified for overtaking Hill on the formation lap and failing to serve a stop-go penalty in time; he was also given a two-race ban.

This is due to historic negative associations of terms like "Yellow" (for East Asians) and "Red" (for Native Americans) with racism.
Often, we don't want to know the truth. We would have to change something—our lives, the place we live, our finances, perhaps even ourselves—if we found out the truth. First, we ignore red flags because we are afraid they are telling the true, painful story.
