The Sandman has been rated 18 by Netflix for “violence and injury detail”.
Overall this series is very well made the storyline is amazing, and there's lots of diversity. The importance of hopes and dreams is a common theme and very inspirational for teenagers. I believe it's fine for teens 14+ because most teens have already seen and heard things in the series before.
“For Mature Audiences. May not be suitable for ages 17 and under.”
Mature Content: The series revolves around the supernatural; characters are seen performing magic. There is a vast amount of violence; blood, gore, murder, death, stabbings, and even a suicide, which may be disturbing for some viewers.
Soul-crushing, not sternum-crushing. This being said, your kiddies should probably not watch The Sandman, as even Netflix itself describes it as "dark." Not only that, but it's rated TV-MA for "language, violence, sex, self-harm, [and] suicide," so it gets pretty heavy. For the little ones, turn on I Am Groot.
The fantasy series is rated TV-MA, meaning it may not be appropriate for ages 17 and under. It was given this age rating for strong language, graphic violence, sex, self-harm, nudity, suicide, blood and gore, and smoking. There will be many disturbing scenes that parents would deem unsuitable for younger kids to watch.
Violence includes spooky spells, guns, and threats of abuse, and an animal is shot in a bloody manner. Body horror includes a shot of eyes cut out of a face. A mythical character is nude and held in captivity.
It has intense violence at certain parts, there is clearly a lot of illegal drug use, there is a moderate amount of sexual content with some nudity in the pilot episode, and there is a good amount of swearing throughout the show.
In a sense it's a creator of a lot of good conversation between you and your older teen. But the level of violence is inappropriate for younger teens who are still trying to separate fantasy violence from reality, and even many adults can become desensitized to violence and abuse, and this series is rife with them.
Netflix additionally noted, “In some countries, we may also show season-level ratings. Those ratings may differ from the show's overall rating or mature content themes.” “Stranger Things” is one of few Netflix Original Series that is TV-14. Movie Guide reports that 61% of its series are rated as TV-MA.
The Sandman show presents much of the same story as the comics, so you don't need to have done any reading beforehand. In fact, even those who've read the full series won't necessarily know what to expect, as the creators have made significant narrative changes, with Gaiman's approval.
This show is rated TV-MA, which is the same as a movie being rated R. It means it's not aimed at children, and really, those under 18 shouldn't watch. There is a lot of violence in the series. We have to remember that it's set during the time of the Vikings, and that means a lot of battles and bloodshed.
Parents need to know that The 100 has a lot of graphic violence and death, often at the hands of a group of teens who hash out power through beatings, torture, and weapon use.
The Sandman is a children's book written by Ralph Fletcher and illustrated by Richard Cowdrey. It was first published in 2008 by Henry Holt and Company.
Brutal violence is frequent and includes point-blank shootings, stabbings, impalements, torture, and threats of terrible injuries such as cut-out tongues. There also are many graphic sexual scenes, with grunting, thrusting, and bared buttocks.
Parents need to know that Resident Evil has extremely gross and graphic violence, with many disgusting deaths and truly icky monsters. Characters are in extreme peril and most of them are killed. There is very strong language and a brief sexual situation with nudity.
The Umbrella Academy has always been inherently queer, and not just because of LGBTQ+ characters like Klaus and Viktor.
It is just plain violent, with a lot of gratuitous violence used for humor and entertainment. Beyond that it is profane, vulgar, and filled with conflicted and inconsistent characters that make for very good interest but poor role models.
Profanity (16)
Includes use of "Christ sake" and "Jesus" exclamations.
Expect graphic depictions of sex, full-frontal nudity, and occasional drug use (including pot, cocaine, and abuse of prescription drugs), along with ongoing alcohol abuse (by kids and adults). Kids engage in iffy, illegal behavior that doesn't typically result in negative consequences.
If your kid knows that doing drugs is not the way to go and to never ever do them then this show is fine for people 12+. There are some gory parts but you legit can close your eyes if you can't watch. There is some sex in it but they really don't show a lot so there is nothing to really worry about it.
Why is Game Of Thrones rated 18+, while other similar shows are only rated 16?
The Sandman creator Neil Gaiman discusses being labeled "woke" for his comic, saying, "That's just [called] 'treating other people with respect.
Ultimately, Sandman's antagonistic actions were mostly the result of his fear of losing his daughter.
