In Shorinkan Karate the red belt is the highest belt. In Vovinam, the red belt is the highest master rank. In Kyokushin Karate, as governed by the International Federation of Karate (IFK), a red belt denotes 10th and 9th kyu, the two lowest ranks after white belt.

Little Dragons take Yellow, Orange, Green, Blue, Brown and finally Black Belts before transferring to Karate Kids at around 6¾ yrs. (If they are still too young to move up to Karate Kids, they can take Gold, then Gold w/black stripe).

Orange Belt
As the yellow belt signifies hope, the orange belt suggests growing strength. Like the sun that becomes increasingly orange as it advances higher into the sky, the orange belt means the martial arts student has mastered the discipline's 10 self-defense moves. The student wears the belt for another 3 months.
Although most kung fu schools use coloured belts today, it's not a universal practice, as there are still schools that prefer a traditional approach without belts, where the master decides the rank of the student.
Black belt, the highest belt level, is often recognized as proper qualification required for teaching Kung Fu. Most students can earn their black belt after three to four years of dedicated training, but training for advanced "degrees" of black belt can continue for the rest of a practitioner's life.
