Common Ravens aren't as social as crows; you tend to see them alone or in pairs except at food sources like landfills. Ravens are confident, inquisitive birds that strut around or occasionally bound forward with light, two-footed hops.

Scientific studies have shown that a raven has the intelligence of a 4-year-old human. Scientists have long believed that only humans could plan for retirement or plan for a meal.
Ravens are uncommon in populated urban areas. If you see a "really big crow" in the city, the chances are good that it really is a crow and not a raven. Common ravens have a well-developed ruff of feathers on the throat, which are called 'hackles' (see photo). Ravens soar more than crows.
In some parts of the UK meeting two or three Ravens together is considered really bad. One very English superstition concerns the tame Ravens at the Tower of London. It is believed if they leave then the crown of England will be lost. It is said to be bad luck if you see bats flying and hear their cries.

Ravens are known for their intelligence, but they also make curious and loyal pets. A flock of ravens is called an “unkindness,” but they are in fact, quite amicable. A video (above) shows the gentle bond shared by Loki the raven and its human owner, Elliot.
The corvids (ravens, crows, jays, magpies, etc.) and psittacines (parrots, macaws, and cockatoos) are often considered the most intelligent birds, and are among the most intelligent animals in general. Pigeons, finches, domestic fowl, and birds of prey have also been common subjects of intelligence studies.
Loyalty among birds.
Ravens, like all other corvids, are monogamous, and the bond typically lasts for life. Ravens select their partners in the autumn, following impressive acrobatic displays. Following pairing, the duo preen eachother, and usually support each other in aggressive interactions with other ravens.
Loud Noises: Ravens will stay away from any form of scary/loud noise, but only for a short period of time, and more.
But Common Ravens have a softer side. During courtship, a pair will often sit side by side, sometimes preening each other's feathers. And during that ritual, one or both may make soft warbling sounds. Raven nestlings sometimes make this same sound after they've been fed.
The raven symbolizes prophecy, insight, transformation, and intelligence. It can also represent long-term success in love and finding devoted, faithful partners. Ravens are happier when they are with one person over a group. People with a raven spirit animal prefer quiet over noise and stillness over constant movement.
Raven's main weakness is letting go of her emotions, especially rage. Terra learned it from Beast Boy and took advantage of it in Aftershock - Part 1 to using it to finish her off. Even though her rage seems powerful, it could potentially corrupt her, leaving her very vulnerable to attacks with more power than her own.
Ravens are massive birds with a thick neck and distinctive shaggy throat feathers. Like other corvids, ravens have strong, large feet and long bills. Most ravens are a solid black. Ravens most closely resemble the common crow, but they soar in flight, more like a hawk.

Raven Meaning: Transformation and Opportunity
In folklore throughout the world, the raven is a symbol of change and opportunity. They are also seen as intermediaries between the material and spirit worlds. Because they eat carrion, ravens have long been associated with death and even bad luck.
“At one time people were convinced that when someone died, a raven carried their soul to the land of the dead. Sometimes, however, such horrible, sad and painful things happened that the soul could not rest. So sometimes, but only sometimes, the raven would bring the soul back so that it would set things right.”
A flock of crows is called a murder. A flock of ravens is called an unkindness.
Where and when to see them. Ravens are best looked for in upland areas of south-west England, Wales, the north Pennines and Lake District and much of Scotland.
