And this is why Hermione does not fit into Ravenclaw, since she lacks their creativity of thought. When you also add in her fearlessness and her strong convictions about right and wrong, which are inherently Gryffindor traits, then there was even less of a chance she'd end up wearing blue and bronze.
Why wasn't Hermione in Ravenclaw? Hermione wasn't in Ravenclaw because she valued bravery over intelligence and curiosity. She says so herself many times. One of the first things she says to Ron and Harry is “Do either of you know what house you'll be in?
Ron Weasley
Being Harry Potter's best friend certainly needed heaps of bravery – hence the Sorting Hat not messing around in sorting Ron into Gryffindor, the house of his parents, brothers and sister. But the Hat specifically states that Gryffindors usually have 'daring, nerve and chivalry'.
Although Hermione was sorted into Gryffindor, the Sorting Hat considered Ravenclaw for her. However, despite her intelligence, her values weren't necessarily always aligned with Ravenclaw's. Hermione was more brave than witty, as shown in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone when the trio got trapped in Devil's Snare.
Hermione: "Well, the Sorting Hat did seriously consider putting me in Ravenclaw during my Sorting, but it decided on Gryffindor in the end." Hermione admitted that the sorting had considered putting her in Ravenclaw given her keen mind.
Her real parents were Daneel and Dean Novak, Pureblooded wizards. Turns out Daneel was Tom Riddles younger sister, Daneel Riddle. Of course, the Riddles were related to Salzar Slytherin himself, and this made Hermione the living heir of Slytherin.
If Draco had been a Gryffindor, he still would have had parents strongly affiliated with Lord Voldemort and Bellatrix Lestrange as an aunt. Malfoy Manor would've still been a good base for Voldemort. Dumbledore would remain a major threat and Malfoy would have been in a good position to get close to him at school.
She's seen as a bit absent-minded, is easily distracted, and is extremely eccentric in both her disposition and general outward appearance. But that's what makes her a perfect Ravenclaw. She loves learning, but unlike many of her housemates (or Hermione, for that matter), she can never know enough.
Because the sorting hat considers not the qualities one possesses, but the qualities one value. Dumbledore may be a brilliant wizard, but he valued bravery above everything else.
Lily Luna Potter (September 1, 2008-Present) is a Half-blood Witch born to Harry and Ginny Potter (née Weasley). From 2019 to 2026 she attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. Lily has two older brothers, James Sirius Potter and Albus Potter.
Poor Harry certainly had his fair share of it over the years, and no one inspired more survivor's guilt in him than Hufflepuff Cedric Diggory. We pose that Cedric's death is the main reason Harry never wanted to visit Hufflepuff.
The only quality she shares with Salazar Slytherin is being a dark wizard. Bellatrix actually belongs in Hufflepuff. She is fiercely loyal to Voldemort, standing by his side the entire time. She also waited for his return while stuck in Azkaban with the patience only a Hufflepuff could have.
In one of these newly minted futures, Albus is in Gryffindor when he goes to school. The reason why is shockingly mundane: His cousin bet that he couldn't get into the House if his life depended on it.
He would have been more than welcome in Ravenclaw house. He was sorted into Slytherin because his mother was sorted there, and we all know the sorting hat takes your opinion into account. As a half blood, he was only exposed to the death eaters, and blood status seniority because he was in Slytherin house.
The pair were parted when the Sorting Hat placed Severus in Slytherin and Lily in Gryffindor, and while Lily thrived in her new, magical life, Snape was essentially placed in close quarters with the likes of Lucius Malfoy, Avery and Mulciber.
McGonagall was born a half-blood witch as her father was a Muggle and her mother a witch. McGonagall began her Hogwarts education at the age of eleven and was sorted into Gryffindor after being the longest ever Hatstall between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw.
Ravenclaw's Diadem
Not content with having so much Hogwarts paraphernalia already, Lord Voldemort was able to secure the tiara of the Ravenclaw house founder, Rowena, whose daughter Helena was murdered at the hands of Slytherin's house ghost, the Bloody Baron.
Moaning Myrtle
Born in the late 1920s to Muggle parents, Myrtle Warren started her Hogwarts life in the early 1940s, where she was sorted into Ravenclaw. She had no friends, and was bullied relentlessly because of her glasses and acne. But she would soon have all of eternity to get her own back.
She was sorted into Slytherin House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and hated her time at the school due to never being given any positions of power. After her time at Hogwarts, Umbridge rose to prominent and influential positions in the Ministry of Magic in the Improper Use of Magic Office.
It's not in-canon, but I'm speculating that they originally kept Luna in the basement for ready access to keep Xenophilius under control. After Xenophilius was sent to Azkaban I think they discovered that Luna was helpful in keeping Ollivander alive.
Harry would have been internally conflicted if he had been Sorted into Slytherin. Although he still would have felt that Hogwarts was the only place he had ever belonged, he might have felt wary forming relationships with the children of Death Eaters.
J.K. Rowling says Draco doesn't have a patronus because he never learned the spell but I think it's because he doesn't have any powerful happy memories to use.
Snape saved Draco, and having realised that Harry got a hold of the old textbook, he punished Harry with a multitude of detentions for nearly killing Malfoy.
