Hydes were considered so dangerous and unpredictable that they were officially banned from Nevermore 30 years before the start of the series.
Hydes are a mutated species of Outcasts that appear in the Netflix series Wednesday. They were banned from Nevermore Academy around thirty years before the events of the first season due to unspecified reasons.
A Hyde is a monster that is born, but that doesn't necessarily mean the person will become a Hyde in their lifetime. It has to be unlocked or unleashed, most commonly from a traumatic event. Additionally, a Hyde is ruled by a master, someone that helps the monster come to the service and is able to control it.
“Born of mutation, the Hyde lays dormant until unleashed by a traumatic event or unlocked through chemical inducement or hypnosis,” Faulkner's diary reads in Wednesday.
When Tyler was young, his mother, whom he was very close to, suddenly died of a mysterious illness. This caused an emotional change in Tyler, to which the Hyde part of him began taking over his mind, making him a delinquent. He harassed the Jericho children and some Outcasts from the school Nevermore Academy.
In the Wednesday Season 1 finale, it is revealed that Tyler was coerced and tormented by Marilyn Thornhill, a.k.a. Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci) until his mind was corrupted to such an extent that he developed a taste for murder.
Valerie Kinbott the master who controls it, we finally discover that the Hyde monster is actually Tyler Galpin, the Sheriff's son, whose mom was a Hyde monster who went to Nevermore years before.
Xavier has psychic visions like Wednesday, but they're more powerful, and they come to him in dreams, not by touching something. It is not fully explained, but his visions have some connection to his drawings, which are what spurred his paintings of the Hyde.
As with any vaping device, Hyde vapes do contain nicotine and aren't exactly considered healthy. In fact, they have more of this addictive chemical than most other e-cigarettes on the market right now so caution is advised.
Kinbott in the wood. After Dr. Kinbott is killed by the Hyde and Tyler is revealed to be the Monster, Wednesday learns that Marilyn Thornhill, a botany teacher at Nevermore (who is played by Christina Ricci, who also played Wednesday in 1991's The Addams Family movie), is the Monster's master.
Gomez points out that different is what the extra D in "Addams" stands for, although Wednesday thought it stood for dismemberment. She asks her parents to forgive her, and Morticia tells Wednesday that she is and will always be their little ghoul; she thanks her mother as the feeling is mutual.
Since Wednesday's supernatural Nevermore Academy is meant to be a prestigious school for successful students, Gomez Addams' acceptance was apparently due to his good grades, typical rule-following, and career aspirations as a lawyer and businessman.
Another key piece of information Wednesday discovered was that any Hyde monster must be unlocked through hypnosis by a master. That meant Tyler wasn't acting on his own. Someone had to provoke his true form and order his slaughters.
Most significantly, Mr. Hyde enters and leaves Dr. Jekyll's house through the back door which seems a metaphor for the evil that lies behind the façade of civilization and refinement.
The reveal
By Wednesday's finale, we learn that the duo behind the monster terrorizing Nevermore were in fact Ms. Thornhill (Ricci) and Tyler (Hunter Doohan).

The “OG” has 1.8 mL vape juice, containing around 25 to 50 mg of nicotine. For reference, 25 mg of nicotine roughly equates to smoking one pack of cigarettes. It runs on a 380 mAh battery, which won't run out before you finish the juice.

As he explains, he has been tormented by nightmares of the monster and has been using his art to process the images. One of the images inadvertently came to life the previous evening, scratching Xavier's neck.
Wednesday takes her theory all the way to the police and has Xavier arrested. Later when Wednesday kisses Tyler (Hunter Doohan), she gets a terrifying vision: Tyler is actually the Hyde, not Xavier. It turns out that Tyler's mother was also a Hyde, and her beast was triggered by her postpartum depression.
Xavier decides to explain to Wednesday why he hates Tyler so much. It turns out that at last year's Outreach Day, Tyler and his friends assaulted Xavier and destroyed his mural. Wednesday confronts her date about this accusation, and he admits that it's the truth, but he regrets his actions.
One of Wednesday's psychic visions reveals that Tyler is the monster, and he later confesses that his feelings for Wednesday were never real as he was compelled by his master — Marilyn Thornhill a.k.a. Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci) — to get close to her.
What Happened to Tyler's Mother? In the last episode of Wednesday, we learn that Tyler's mother was also a Hyde. Her post-partum disorder triggered her transformation, but we never learn what exactly happened to her in the end.
In season 1, episode 7 of Wednesday, "If You Don't Woe Me By Now," fans learn that Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), is the Hyde monster. While Wednesday is one of the best horror TV characters, Tyler is great too, as he takes an interest in her and seems to understand her in a way that no one else does.
