Unfortunately for fans looking to pick up the iconic hammer, neither Kratos nor Atreus can wield the mighty Mjölnir in God of War Ragnarok.
While Kratos can't use Mjolnir in the game, he has an arsenal of his own. His trusted Leviathan Axe makes a return to God of War Ragnarok and so does his Blades of Chaos. The only new weapon that he acquires in the game is the Draupnir Spear.
Players never get to wield Thor's hammer Mjolnir in God of War Ragnarok, but the game thankfully presents an even better combat tool instead. Many fans were hoping to wield Thor's hammer Mjolnir in God of War Ragnarok, but Santa Monica Studio thankfully chose to embrace a much better alternative.
The Leviathan Axe is Canonically More Powerful than Mjolnir.
Not only is Atreus extremely talented with a bow, but his godhood powers allow him to shapeshift. In God of War: Ragnarok, players get to see and experience Atreus doing battle as both a wolf and a bear.

Upon dealing enough damage, press R3 when prompted, and then follow the QTE prompts to take Odin down once and for all. This cutscene will see Atreus defeating Odin, taking his soul, and placing it inside one of Angrboda's marbles.
Atreus Helped Odin Find The Missing Pieces Of The Mask
He thought that by manipulating Odin and doing what he wanted, while having the intention to actually help his family and friends, he'd be able to stop the prophecy from coming true.
God of War's combat is impressive, and while Mjolnir could have been a worthy addition to Kratos' arsenal, it wouldn't fit the character's arc based on William's logic. The Norse Saga has transformed Kratos from a ruthless and bloodthirsty anti-hero to a protagonist with real depth.
Stormbreaker has the additional power to summon the Bifröst, allowing Thor to teleport anywhere in the Nine Realms. Screen Rant has identified Stormbreaker as the more powerful of the two, based on this ability, as well as it being a much larger and edged weapon.
Overall, though, Stormbreaker seems to have the edge over Mjolnir once again. Strong enough to open the Bifrost, reach Eternity, and manipulate storms the same way Mjolnir can, Stormbreaker's powers are greater than that of the mythical hammer.
It's an interpretation of when he flipped Tyr's temple. Some people took that as him actually lifting and flipping the weight of all nine realms.
God Of War Ragnarok: Thor's Wound Festers Because Of Jormungandr's Venom. The reason behind Thor's incurable wound is due to the Eitr imbued in the Leviathan Axe. In God of War, Kratos throws the weapon into the Lake of Nine and awakens the World Serpent, who rises out of the water.
Believe it or not, we actually know exactly how tall Kratos is thanks to this oddly detailed technical breakdown video from Santa Monic Studio's Axel Grossman. Kratos is exactly six feet and four inches tall (or about 1.93 meters, if that helps) in God of War: Ragnarok.
Unlike the others, Zeus is not worthy to lift Mjolnir, but through a loophole, he can anyway. If Mjolnir is to enter his domain, Zeus's MCU powers should override Odin's enchantment, meaning he can hold Mjolnir. He may not be worthy, but technically Zeus is the fifth character who can lift Mjolnir in the MCU's Phase 4.
And Mathaudhu can cite documentary sources to back him up. For example, Marvel – which publishes the Thor comics – issued a “Thor's Hammer” trading card in 1991 that states Mjolnir is made of Uru and weighs precisely 42.3 pounds. That's lighter than a herd of 300 billion mice, much less a herd of 300 billion elephants.
The Leviathan is a two-handed war axe that is Kratos' main offensive weapon in God of War.
Forged by dwarves in the heart of a dying star, the weapon is enchanted so that it can only be lifted and wielded by those who are worthy of its powers. Both in the comics and the MCU films, many characters other than Thor himself, both heroes and villains, have been able to lift Mjolnir.
The hammer Stormbreaker is very similar to Mjolnir, made of mystic Uru metal and is nearly indestructible. Worthiness: Just like the original Mjolnir, no one can lift Stormbreaker who is not worthy. After the founding of New Korbin, there was a line of aliens and Korbinites all attempting to lift Stormbreaker.
Unfortunately for fans looking to pick up the iconic hammer, neither Kratos nor Atreus can wield the mighty Mjölnir in God of War Ragnarok.
Throughout God of War Ragnarök, Kratos blocks, deflects, redirect, and stops Mjölnir dead in its tracks, however. This is no minor feat and should clearly speak to Kratos' abilities and strength. Unfortunately, he never wields Mjölnir in the same way that Thor does, something fans surely would have enjoyed seeing.
Eventually, Thor was able to grab hold of Kratos after breaking his shield, understanding how his sons were defeated at his hands, but explains that he is someone totally different who is able to put up a challenging fight against Kratos.
If Atreus had let his fear consume him and used the Mask as Odin had desired then this would have led Odin to gain the power to defeat Kratos, leading to the prophecy from GoW (2018) coming true.
In the game, Atreus' connection to Loki is slowly revealed through clues and hints, culminating in the revelation that Atreus was given the name Loki at birth. It was revealed that Atreus' mother was a giantess named Laufey, who had an affair with Odin, the Allfather of the Norse gods.
Atreus (Greek: Ἀτρεύς), also known as Loki (Nordic: ᛚᛟᚲᛁ), is the Norse God of Mischief and the Champion of the Jötnar. He is the deuteragonist of God of War (2018) and one of the two protagonists of God of War Ragnarök along with Kratos.
