The line of succession follows Charles' blood descendants, so Camilla will never become the actual queen, even if he dies before her.
1 Prince William, 40
The eldest son of King Charles and Diana is now heir apparent and next in line to the throne.
This is a loaded question, but the straightforward answer is yes. Princess Catherine will eventually become queen when Prince William is named king. However, that won't happen until his dad, King Charles, steps down as monarch (or passes away).
When King Charles dies, Prince William will immediately take the throne as the next monarch of the UK. There is always the chance King Charles may wish to abdicate before this, though he will likely serve his tenure as until his death, just like the Queen did.
Her Majesty leaves behind over $500 million in personal assets from her 70 years on the throne, which Prince Charles will inherit when he is crowned king.
Even if the Queen had desired to skip Charles in favor of William, she did not have the power to choose her successor on a whim. The 1701 Act of Settlement is the act of Parliament that determines the succession to the throne and requires that a monarch's heir must be his or her direct successor (and a Protestant).
"Without William, Kate would curtsy to Camilla; with him, she would not," the source continued. "That's unless Prince Charles is present, in which case she would." The order of curtsying, however, can change. This could happen when people marry into the family.
“There's literally a structure by which if you want to release photos of your child, as a member of the family, you first have to give them to the Royal Rota,” she explained.
What Kate called the Queen. While the rest of the world is required to address Queen Elizabeth as Ma'am or your majesty, those closest to her are allowed to refer to her as Mama, according to Ingrid Seward, the editor of Majesty magazine. Sign up to British Heritage Travel's daily newsletter here!
However, in the case of the British monarchy, the queen consort is not in the line of succession, and is only given the title through marriage. The New York Times reports that within the British monarchy, the queen consort does not hold any sort of formal position in government, either.
Charles, 58, took to his Instagram Stories with a clip of ducks flying overhead as he made a trip to the lake on the grounds of Althorp House where Diana's grave stands.
Princess Charlotte is expected to receive a new title when her father Prince William becomes king. The Prince of Wales (who is also known as the Duke of Cambridge) is currently second in line to the throne. After he ascends the throne, Princess Charlotte could become the Princess Royal.
And as to putting one's clothes on, contrary to popular belief the Queen actually dressed alone. The monarch also did her own make-up for most events, with the exception of her annual Christmas speech, for which a make-up artist was employed.
After marrying Charles, Diana's relationship with the Queen was said to be "second to none" and she even – supposedly – called the Queen "mama" at times.
Sweet. Despite the fact Queen Elizabeth II was officially called 'Ma'am' or 'Your Majesty' to the majority of people, Prince William and Prince Harry were let off the hook when it came to the Queen, and were always encouraged to call her 'Granny'.
Alexandrine was known by the nickname of "Adini" within her family. It became clear shortly after Alexandrine's birth that she was affected with Down syndrome. Unlike other disabled royal children, Alexandrine was not hidden away.
While talking about his children, Harry said he could see a lot of Meghan in Archie and his mother in Lili. Harry said that Lilibet also had blue eyes and golden reddish hair. Notably, the baby girl has rarely been seen since her birth in June 2021.
Adorably, the visit marked the first time that the Queen met her great-granddaughter and namesake, one-year-old Lili – but it's said that the moment was brief, even under an hour.
According to protocol, Meghan is supposed to curtsy to those who outrank her. This includes the Queen, Prince Phillip, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla. Because William is due to be the future King of England, he also receives a curtsy, and by extension so does Kate Middleton.
There are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family, but many people wish to observe the traditional forms. For men this is a neck bow (from the head only) whilst women do a small curtsy. Other people prefer simply to shake hands in the usual way.
When Prince William becomes King, his wife Kate will become Queen, but not in the same way that Queen Elizabeth II was queen. Kate, who will be the spouse of the ruling monarch whenever William ascends, will have the title Queen Consort. The title of 'consort' refers simply to the spouse of a ruling monarch.
The King gave his first speech as monarch
King Charles III has revealed when his son, Prince William, will succeed him as monarch in his first speech as the King of England. In the speech, the new head of state revealed that he planned to serve for life, meaning that William will only succeed him when he passes away.
William's eldest child, Prince George, is second in line, followed by George's younger sister, Princess Charlotte, before her younger brother, Prince Louis. Fifth in line is Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, the younger son of the King; sixth is Harry's elder child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.
Becoming king in his 70s could be a difficult job to take on, but could Prince Charles refuse to take the throne? The concise answer to the above question is no. The Line of Succession is determined by Statue Law, and if the Queen steps down or dies, Charles would become king automatically.
Late Queen at Diana's funeral
