Neither, our round eggs used in the tasty
“All we do is throw them on the grill.” Meanwhile, workers cook the round eggs fresh. As @ essentialmcdonalds shows in his clip, those eggs are made by simply cracking a raw egg into a circular mold on the griddle. Employees then pop the yolks and pour water on top of the grill, creating steam.
Our freshly cracked and scrambled eggs are cooked on the grill with liquid real butter. We also use the grill to heat our folded egg, which is previously cooked in our suppliers' kitchens before arriving at our restaurants.
When they're cooking round eggs at McDonald's they add a little bit of water to the griddle and cover it so the eggs steam to perfection. That's why they're soft and tender and not as crispy as regular fried eggs. They also break their yolks so they cook evenly.
There are several reasons why McDonald's eggs are so good. Firstly, McDonald's uses freshly cracked eggs in their breakfast items, which means that the eggs are not pre-cooked or pre-packaged. This ensures that the eggs are fresh and of high quality, resulting in a much better flavor and texture.
Making the egg “the McDonald's way” involves two simultaneous cooking techniques: frying and steaming. That is what gives the egg its soft, fluffy texture. Immediately cover the pan so the steam can build and help cook the egg.
McDonald's egg patties are prepared fresh in large batches thanks to the egg ring, and can then be stored warm for a while without losing that fresh taste and satisfying texture. The egg ring is why so many McD's breakfast sandwiches are great, and it is also why you probably can't ever quite replicate them at home.
Cook until the eggs are set, it should take about two minutes. Gently remove the eggs from the rings, and place one egg on each piece of Canadian bacon. Top each egg with one slice of American cheese, top cheese with the top of the English muffin.
Frying Pan Method
Once water is boiling, turn off the heat completely and allow the bubbles to subside. Carefully slide eggs into the water and place the lid on the frying pan. Allow 6 minutes for eggs with firm whites and soft, runny yolks. Allow 8 minutes for firmer yolks.
Freshly cracked for every McMuffin
Once they reach our restaurants our award-winning free-range eggs are freshly cracked into special round rings and steamed, so they fit perfectly inside our tasty McMuffins® every single time.
Poached Eggs vs. Fried Eggs. The difference between a poached egg and a fried egg is just a tablespoon of water. If you'd like to make poached eggs, after buttering the muffin tin, add a tablespoon of water to each one and then add your cracked egg.
The suppliers we work with first peel, cut and blanche the potatoes. They then dry, partially fry and quickly freeze the fries for our restaurants. Once in our kitchens, we cook them in our canola-blend oil so you can have them crispy and hot—just the way you like them.
Our scrambled eggs are made with liquid eggs that are cooked fresh on our grill with real butter. Folded Eggs: Our folded eggs, like the ones on a Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit, are made with liquid eggs that are pre-cooked and folded before being flash frozen by our suppliers.
McDonald's source their (real!) eggs from poultry ranches, where the eggs are so fresh they are usually laid on the same day they are shipped off to the restaurants. The egg shells are cleaned at the ranch with a warmy soapy water solution.
McDonald's currently sources 13 million cage-free eggs each year. By 2025, they have made a commitment to transition to entirely cage-free eggs in all of their US and Canadian restaurants. They use roughly 2 billion eggs per year in these stores so that is no small feat!
McDonald's burgers are made of 100% ground beef, formed into hamburger patties, and then quickly frozen at our suppliers to seal in great fresh flavor. We add salt and pepper to our burgers when they are cooked on the grill at our restaurants to bring out all that great beef taste. * Weight before cooking 4 oz. (ea.)
Neither, our round eggs used in the tasty McMuffin products are actually steamed.
If you don't want to use an egg ring, look around your kitchen! Round cookie cutters (make sure they're heat-resistant) and Mason jar lids can work just as well as an egg ring. Whichever method you're using, be sure to grease the egg ring generously (as well as the pan).
A freshly-cracked free range egg, and our famous toasted English muffins. With a slice of cheese, it's perfect to enjoy on the go.
As for the scrambled eggs, they're made with the same liquid egg mixture as the folded eggs, meaning that you can also find sodium acid pyrophosphate and monosodium phosphate in them to maintain their signature yellow color and fluffy texture.
