Improved nutrition has increased the average height and weight of boys aged 13 in rural China who are now 7.5cm taller and 6.6kg heavier than a decade ago, an official study found.
Asian-Americans aren't the only ones getting taller than their overseas counterparts, but it may seem more pronounced because they're moving from shorter heights of, say, 5 feet 2, to 5 feet 7 in just a generation and a half. The reason: more protein and calcium in the diet.
Shandong citizens, are also known to have the tallest average height of any Chinese province (or administrative equivalents). As of 2010, 16- to 18-year-old male students in Yantai measured 176.4 cm (5'9.5), while female students measured 164 cm (5'4.5). Provincial average for both genders would be about 1cm less.
“[In global rankings], Chinese men rank 32nd with an average height of 1.697 metres – shorter than Japanese males at 29th with 1.707 metres and Koreans who rank 18th at 1.74 metres,” she said.
Characteristics of the population in the latest survey
The average age was 14 years. The average height of the students in 2010 was 156.51 cm (160.00 cm for males and 153.13 cm for females).
The average height of men and women on the Chinese mainland is 171.8 cm (ninety-third in the world) and 159.7 cm (eighty-seventh in the world), with an increase in 11 cm and 10 cm, respectively, in the past 100 years [24].

The expected average height of a healthy population should be 163 cm for women and 176.5 cm for men – as defined by the WHO growth reference standards. Interestingly, the global average height is 159.5 cm for women, and 171 cm for men – it's lower than we'd expect.

South Korea is almost unique in how quickly their population has gotten taller because they went from a relatively low-income country in the 1950s to well on their way to being a rich, industrialized country by the 90s.
Dutch people are the tallest people in the world. They have an average height of 175.62 cm (5 feet 7.96 inches).
The average height for South Korean men is 170.7 cm (5 ft 7 in), whilst for women it is 157.4 cm (5 ft 2 in). On average, South Korean men are 5 inches or so taller than North Korean men, whilst there is but a mere inch in it when you compare the height of North Korean women with their southern cousins.
