Star Wars also has disabled characters on the side of good. Yoda, the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy, is nine hundred years old; he walks with a cane and occasionally rides a hover chair.
Kanan was a loving teacher and father of a found family, a fearless leader and warrior, and a Jedi who became disabled and learned how to use the Force to work with his disability, not fight against it. At their most basic, the Jedi are seen as awesome fighters with cool lightsabers.
Although Vader generally passes as able-bodied due to his cybernetics, it is clear that he cannot survive without his suit. Technology does not increase his abilities; it simply keeps him alive. While he is cured of his physical injuries, he remains disabled.
Unlike the characters with disabilities discussed so far, Yoda's disability is not “ugly” like Palpatine's facial deformities or Vader's breathing. In fact, people might even describe his appearance as “cute.” Yoda's disabilities are truly functional: he walks with a cane and he is small in stature.
When Kanan Jarrus was attacked by Maul in Star Wars: Rebels, he was permanently blinded. An act of aggression and “evil” resulted in him becoming disabled. The same can be said of Luke Skywalker, who lost his hand while fighting with his father, in a similar way to how Anakin lost one of his hands in the prequels.
That question is answered in the new Star Wars novel Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher. In a new excerpt, it's revealed that the names of Rey's parents are Dathan and Miramir.
After years of speculation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi revealed that Rey (Daisy Ridley), the main character of the new trilogy, is not the child of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). In fact, she's the child of “nobody” — per Rey's own words.
The species had a very long life expectancy, spanning at least several centuries; Yoda lived nearly a thousand years before dying of old age, and they aged very slowly, remaining in infancy for at least fifty standard years.
Rather than destroy his father, Luke sought to bring him back into the light. At 900 years old, Yoda passed away, telling Luke that there was another Skywalker.
Grandmaster Yoda was so skilled with this power that he could heal himself or all in his immediate vicinity with just a wave of his hand. Near the end of his life, Obi-Wan Kenobi also developed this skill.
Between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan, it's pretty clear that Vader is far more powerful with the force. After all, he pretty easily used the force to stop a starship from taking off in the previous episode, and manhandled Kenobi throughout the majority of the show.
Eventually, he lost both his legs and his remaining arm in the climactic duel on Mustafar between both he and Obi-Wan. As Vader, he had each limb replaced with cybernetic parts, but would lose his robotic right arm one last time when Luke Skywalker faced his father in Return of the Jedi.
Around 44 BBY, Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn was thought of as a Gray Jedi by some members of the Order for his frequent opposition to their demands. One group of renegade Jedi described themselves as "gray" even though they held to the same views as the Jedi Council on the subject of the dark side.
Chirrut was a character who was blind, but he was guided by the ways of the Force, which allowed him to trust his instincts and even measure up to some of the best Jedi.
Vernestra was enough of a prodigy that she eventually attained the rank of Jedi Knight at the age of only fifteen, making her the youngest Knight in a generation.
Yoda held the title of Grand Master of the Jedi Order since the days of the High Republic Era. At some point, Yoda took on a human named Kantam Sy as his Padawan. The two were stationed at the Jedi Temple on the planet Endovar.
Mission to Mathas. Padawan Windu was trained in the ways of the Force by Jedi Master Cyslin Myr.
The character's name was later changed to be “Minch Yoda” in the first draft of The Empire Strikes Back screenplay by Leigh Brackett. The name was changed again to the shorter “Yoda.”
Slow Aging
For the whole first season of The Mandalorian™, they referred to him only as the Child. It seems that the species is, for whatever reason, quite slow to age. They live much longer than most species, though it's uncertain exactly how their age shows.
Those who followed the light side of the Force and had the appropriate training could achieve a form of immortality by retaining their consciousness after their physical deaths. Qui-Gon Jinn rediscovered this ability and, in turn, taught Yoda and his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi how to attain it.
What is the connection between Kylo Ren and Rey? As Kylo Ren himself says in The Rise of Skywalker, he and Rey are bonded not just by their familial legacies (Ren as the grandson of Darth Vader and Rey as the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine) but by their unique connection in the Force.
Affiliation(s) Zayne Skywalker was a force-sensitive Jedi Knight, and the son of Ben Solo and Rey Palpatine, a dyad in the force as the grandson of the Chosen One and the son of power force wielders, who became a legendary warrior and hero for the galaxy in the decades after the Battle of Exegol.
The weapon had a kyber crystal at its heart, and emitted a yellow-colored plasma blade when ignited. The emitter matrix on Rey's weapon featured a rotating gear-like mechanism, which caused the emitter of the lightsaber to open up and allow the plasma blade through.
