While it is unlikely that your PDO threads will slip out of place, it is still important for patients to understand the procedure itself as well as thread lift aftercare.
One of the risks associated with the use of PDO threads is the possibility of thread breakage. When a PDO thread snaps, patients can feel a sudden sharp pain, which is often accompanied by a popping or cracking sound. This occurs due to the sudden release of tension in the thread.
To ensure the best results, there are several things you must avoid after a PDO thread lift. These include sleeping on your stomach or side, wearing makeup, drinking alcohol, making extreme facial expressions, and receiving facials and facial massages.
How long does puckering last after suspension threads? Typically 3-14 days after your procedure you'll have a small zone of bunched up skin near the treatment's origin area. Your skin will settle down the thread over the first two weeks, as the puckering softens.
Skin puckering or dimpling
If your practitioner gives the green light, you can reduce the dimpling by massaging the area. This releases the catch on the thread. If the dimpling is deeper or occurs a few weeks after the treatment, you may need a small procedure in the clinic to release it.
Such cases usually occurs around the mouth area where facial expressions are more dynamic compared to the other areas. Sometimes, the migration can be observed through the thin skin of the jaw line. Migration of threads may also cause thread protrusion in some areas.
Sleeping on your stomach or side
One of the worst things you can do after a thread lift is to apply an excessive amount of pressure to the treated area. If you sleep on your stomach or side within the first five nights post-treatment, you may experience swelling, discomfort, bruising, or less-than-optimal results.
Understanding Lumps After Thread Lift
While the procedure is considered safe, it can sometimes lead to a buildup of fibrous tissue or swelling, resulting in the formation of lumps. These lumps are not uncommon and can range in size from small bumps to large knots.
A PDO thread lift can be expected to offer instant results that will actually improve over the span of two to three months after your treatment. Even as the threads fade, your results will keep going strong.
Fortunately, because the threads placed under the skin during a thread lift are so small, the patient will not feel any of this happening. Most people cannot feel their sutures at all once the skin has healed around them.
For most patients, this treatment results in an immediate improvement because the placement of the threads offers a lift right away. Your results will fully develop, or settle, over the next month as the body begins to ramp up collagen production that will offer longer-term support.
Usually, PDO threads are so thin that they can't be felt or seen underneath the skin. But in some rare cases, people with thin skin can sometimes feel them if they press hard enough on the skin. This won't be permanent though because PDO threads are absorbable and will dissolve themselves in the skin over time.
What can go wrong with a thread lift? Extrusion (where a thread pokes out of the skin) and dimpling are two of the most common issues. The former is caused by improper placement; dimpling or visible lumps and bumps occur when a thread is placed in an area without enough other threads around it, explains Dr.
Not only does PDO thread lifting physically lift and tighten the skin, but it also promotes the production of new, healthy collagen fibers to further enhance your look over time.
You can expect an immediate lift to the treated area, but this will always relax somewhat once the initial swelling has settled down. Appearance is expected to gradually improve over a period of 2-3 months as collagen remodeling occurs.
Will I be able to smile after a PDO thread lift? Aside from coping with temporary swelling and tenderness, most clients are able to smile after a PDO thread lift.
It's true heat treatments can remove the PDO threads, but with the type of PDO threading that Dr. Salman Hashmi uses, the threads will naturally start to dissolve in 12 – 18 months so you don't have to worry about removing the threading.
PDO Smooth Threads
They are a single filament thread designed to stimulate collagen and support the skin, rather than immediately lift or reposition the skin. We recommend coming in every 4-6 weeks for a total of 3-5 treatment sessions when targeting a specific area.
With enough time, the sunken skin will be replaced by natural-looking volume. Severe cases of puckering where the thread is visible on the face or it's sticking out of the face is a complication due to poor technique, improper placement, or extremely excessive facial movement.
To get rid of puckering 1) wet your fabric (either soak it in lukewarm water, soapy if you need to wash it and erase some marks, for example, or use a water spray) and 2) stretch it thoroughly. There are many ways to stretch it. You can pin it to a corkboard if you have one.
If your fabric is distorted, it can cause bunching and puckering when sewn. To fix this, try steaming the fabric to relax it, or re-cutting it along the grain line. You can “block” your fabric by re-shaping the fabric piece so that the warp (grain line) and weft are perpendicular.
