The corresponding Basic Energy card was Fairy Energy. The Fairy type ceased being supported by the TCG from the Sword & Shield expansion onwards.
A lot of Dark Type Pokémon are or have some characteristics that people would call evil or sinister. This is further backed up by the Japanese name for the type, which is not the Japanese word for dark, it's actually the Japanese word for evil. In Japan, this type is known as the Evil Type.
7 Dark Is Not A Very Common Type
As of Generation VIII, there are a total of 69 Dark type Pokémon, accounting for just 7.6% of the Pokédex. This makes Dark the 8th rarest type, right near the middle of the pack. Of these, just 14 are pure Dark types with no secondary typing.
