The most common way on Android to block a text is to tap the three-dot menu in a spam text and Block number. On an iPhone, the most common method of blocking a text is to tap the phone number in the text and tap Block contact.
To begin blocking spam texts on an Android:
Press the three-dot icon at the top right corner of your screen. Select “Block Number” or “Details,” then “Block & Report Spam” (depending on your specific device). Tap “Block & Report Spam.”
Follow these steps to block a number from texting you:
Open the "Messages" app. Open the conversation with the person you want to block. Tap the "More" icon. Select "Block number"
Block messages from a specific person or number
In a Messages conversation, tap the name or number at the top of the conversation. Tap the info button, scroll down, then tap Block this Caller.
Blocking Someone on Android Messages and Apple iMessage
They won't know that they've been blocked. Blocking: In Messages, tap on the contact's name in Contacts, tap More, then tap “Block contact.” In iMessage, tap on their name in Contacts, then tap on “Block this caller.”
Android phones move all blocked messages into a folder on the phone called “Spam and Blocked.” That means that the phone is still collecting messages from the blocked people; they just aren't notifying you.
Blocked text messages disappear
When someone that you've blocked texts you, their texts go nowhere. They won't receive any notification that they're blocked, and their messages will still look like they've been sent. But you won't receive any of them, and you can't respond.
Solution 2: Enable the "Do Not Disturb" Mode
Aside from Airplane Mode, you can also turn on Do Not Disturb on your iPhone to stop receiving calls without blocking your contacts. This setting allows you to still receive calls, texts, and other notifications without ringing, vibrating, or lighting up in response.
When someone you've blocked tries to text you, you will not receive text messages from them. The blocked person also does not receive any notification that they're blocked. However, many iPhone users may be able to deduce that you've blocked them. This is because of the iMessage text “status” feature on iPhones.
iPhone - Do Not Disturb Mode
This mode allows you to temporarily suspend noises and notifications associated with SMS text messages, phone calls, and FaceTime requests. You will still receive calls, texts, and FaceTime requests, but your iPhone will not ring, vibrate, and/or light up.
Blocked messages will not come through when unblocked.
You won't be able to retrieve them.
Count the rings before voicemail
It's a normal call when you call a person and hear the usual number of rings before getting voicemail. But if the person has blocked you, here's the big indicator. You only hear a single ring before being diverted to voicemail.
Secondly, the contact will not be notified or sent a message that you have blocked them. However, after a few attempts, they may be able to guess that something is fishy.
When you disable SMS, the iMessage system automatically takes over, and sends and receives messages using your cellular or Wi-Fi data connection. To ensure you don't receive any text messages through SMS, you can also disable your cellular data connection to force your iPhone to use an available Wi-Fi network.
When you block a number to stop getting texts from it, you're also preventing phone calls. There might be third-party apps that can differentiate between the two so that you're blocking texts only and not calls, or vice versa, but the methods explained below block both.
Perhaps the most simple is the best one: use a different phone to call the person who blocked you. Phones can't block people as there's no way for them to know who is on the other end of the line. All they can do is block specific numbers.
If you see green bubbles, this means that your text messages are being sent through SMS, and they might have blocked you on iMessage. For example, if you send me a message and I receive it with a green bubble, this means that the message was sent through SMS rather than iMessage.
However, there is one scenario in which blocking is the perfect option. If someone is tormenting, causing pain or discomfort, or refusing to leave you alone, then blocking them may be necessary.
To be safe, simply delete the email — if it's important, the sender will likely contact you some other way. And remember to empty your spam folder periodically.
Here's how to block spam texts automatically: Go to your iPhone's Settings and tap Messages. In the Message Filtering section, toggle the button for Filter Unknown Senders to on. Now any messages you receive from unknown numbers in iMessage or Messages will be collected in a separate list.
The national Do Not Call list protects landline and wireless phone numbers. You can register your numbers on the national Do Not Call list at no cost by calling 1-888-382-1222 (voice) or 1-866-290-4236 (TTY). You must call from the phone number you wish to register. You can also register at donotcall.gov.
If someone blocks you, the text is still delivered to their device, they're just never presented with it. I be device receives it, sees that it's from a blocked number, and immediately discards it. So it IS delivered. That's why it says delivered.
Remember, if the message says "read" but doesn't have a timestamp, someone else may have disabled read receipts. If no read time is shown for anyone, make sure your own read receipts are enabled for this to work in the future.
