Typically it's best to wait 2 to 5 weeks in between waxing depending on the part of the body. For face, underarms, and bikini areas, wax about every 2 to 3 weeks. Legs and arms can be stretched out to 3 to five weeks.
You also need to allow regrowth to happen before your next appointment. When you get your first Brazilian wax, you should allow three or four weeks to pass between appointments. The hair should be at least a quarter of an inch before you wax again. That means you should not shave between appointments.
Exfoliate and Moisturize
The key to keeping your wax fresh is proper skin care. Let's be honest, everyone loves a good moisturizer. Routinely moisturizing your skin with an oil-free lotion or hydrating cream will help your skin feel smooth and look healthy between waxes.
Bikini area
"For a bikini wax, those who frequent the beach benefit from waxing their bikini line every two weeks. But for a full bikini or Brazilian bikini service, you're recommended to come in every three to four weeks. This allows the proper amount of time for regrowth," Coba says.
We recommend a minimum of 4 weeks regrowth to get the best results. If you have removed the hair via waxing/shaving/plucking or any other way any less than 4 weeks ago, then please bear in mind that although we may still be able to carry out your wax, you are likely to get some regrowth quite soon after your treatment.
Each person is different, which means that it will take longer for some clients to regulate their hair regrowth cycle. In the meantime, it's normal to get mild stubble or new hairs growing days after a wax, but leaving these hairs alone until the next wax appointment is always the best choice.
If you wax too often, there are a few potential issues that can occur. Your skin may become irritated, due to the wax being too harsh on the top layers of skin and causing inflammation. Additionally, waxing too often can make the hair follicles weaker and cause hair growth to slow down.
Catagen, or the transition phase. During this phase the hair stops growing, the follicle shrinks, and the hair is cut off from its blood supply. The catagen phase only lasts for about 2 weeks, and only 2 or 3% of pubic hair is in this phase at a time.
You will not have to get completely naked for a Brazilian wax. Of course, any clothing from the waist down will have to be removed, but anything from the waist up can stay on. One thing to suggest to your clients is adequate clothing to wear for their Brazilian wax.
Lastly, your hair may be growing back quickly after a waxing treatment due to a diagnosed or undiagnosed medical issues. Hormone fluctuations caused by conditions like Polycystic ovary syndrome and some medications can all be potential factors as to why your hair is growing back at a faster rate.
How long will the results last? After a client's first waxing, the results can last 3 to 6 weeks depending on the individual's hair re-growth rate. In most cases, hair growth is minimal during the first week or two and noticeably increases in the third and fourth week.
Emphatically, yes! If you don't wait too long, the second time around the hairs will be shorter, thinner and sparser because they're not fully mature. This makes removal a little less painful, although it still hurts. This second appointment usually takes less time, too.
And since your hair is at various phases in the growth cycle, your initial wax may not remove some hairs that are in the anagen stage. These hairs will make their presence known when they're good and ready, aka, maybe a day or so after your wax.
An ingrown hair may appear about a week after waxing. Ingrown hairs occur when the hair grows and reinserts itself into the hair follicle. Ingrown hairs can cause itchy and sometimes painful bumps that often look like pimples on the skin. Without treatment, ingrown hairs can become infected.
It is common to develop folliculitis after hair removal, like waxing, which looks like small red bumps or pimples around hair follicles. Folliculitis occurs when hair follicles are damaged and infected by bacteria.
"Waxing provides long-lasting results, you only need to wax every three to four weeks, giving you back more time in your day, week and life.
This is typically because the client didn't wait long enough for ALL of the hair to grow out. You will, however, notice that after a few Brazilian Waxes your hair will start to grow in much slower and finer. Shaved hair is much thicker because it gets cut off at its thickest point.
We're often asked is if waxing will get easier over time. The good news is, it will! But you need to ensure you keep up with your waxing routine. Regularly book in for treatments every 4 – 6 weeks depending on your hair growth cycle.
And how long is too long? Up to 1/2 inch should be fine. If your hair is any longer you may feel some discomfort when the wax is applied. It will also make it trickier for your therapist to get the job done.
When you get your pubic hair removed with wax, it can also rip away the top layer of your skin, leaving tiny cuts and tears and making you prone to bacteria infections. This ups your risk of getting infections, rashes and even sexually transmitted diseases.
