While every patient heals at a slightly different pace, most people can begin drinking small amounts of coffee around 5 days after an extraction. If all goes well, within two weeks any swelling should subside and your mouth should be mostly healed. At that point, you can return to drinking your normal amount of coffee.
Caffeine causes your blood vessels to dilate, leading to increased blood flow and blood pressure. This can increase the risk of bleeding, which may dissolve or dislodge the blood clot at your extraction site.
After your wisdom tooth extraction, you should avoid consuming hot coffee, tea, and other hot drinks for 24-48 hours. The heat from these liquids can irritate the surgery site and damage the healing process. Instead, go for a cold coffee or ice tea.
Just to be on the safe side, it's best to avoid drinking coffee for a few days after your tooth is removed. This is because caffeine may hinder the healing process.
After a tooth extraction, it's best to avoid drinking hot beverages like tea and coffee for the first 24 hours. The heat from the drinks can cause the blood vessels in the extraction site to dilate, increasing blood flow and prolonging the bleeding.
After your procedure, focus on drinking lots of water to facilitate healing and stay hydrated. Beverages like Gatorade, Powerade, and Pedialyte can also be great options to help you stay hydrated and heal up quickly.
Both alcohol and carbonated beverages can damage the clot in your extraction site and cause complications, so avoid drinking them for at least four days after your extraction.
In order for your mouth to heal properly, you should avoid your favorite cup of coffee at least for the first few days. As long as the extraction site heals day after day, you'll be able to carefully sip a caffeinated beverage about 5 days once your tooth has been removed.
Within the first 24 hours after tooth removal surgery, you should avoid consuming anything that involves chewing. Try to limit yourself to liquids exclusively. If they don't fill you up and you want to consume solid food, go for soft meals that don't need much chewing, like pudding or oatmeal.
Unfortunately you should wait a few days before drinking anything very hot. After the first 24 hours you can have lukewarm beverages or soup, but nothing too hot. You may be ready to drink hot beverages afew days after your extraction. But sip carefully at first until you determine that your mouth is healed enough.
Bread is typically tough to chew after wisdom tooth removal and you are generally recommended to avoid any foods that could get stuck to your surgery site. Crackers and breads are notorious for getting stuck on teeth and stuck in the mouth and that can only cause trouble post oral surgery.
Swallowing your saliva will create enough pressure to stop the residual bleeding and stabilize the blood clot. Swallowing your saliva will prevent DRY-SOCKET PAIN.
Gatorade, Juice (non-acidic), and Milk are also good options. Immediately following surgery we recommend cool soft foods: Ice-cream, Jello, Pudding, Applesauce, Yogurt, Protein shakes or Milkshakes (no straws!).
Cold coffee or lukewarm coffee is also prohibited after surgical extraction. Although the temperature is not the problem but caffeine effects are as same as in hot. It disturbs the blood clot and initial healing. Cold coffee is brewed for a long time so the caffeine effects are more dangerous.
Studies have found that caffeine can impede wound healing and epithelialization,23 inhibit collagen synthesis,8 and disturb early stages of bone healing.
When can I have something to eat? About an hour after surgery, you may remove the gauze sponges that have been placed in your mouth and have something to eat. Be sure to eat foods that are soft for the first 24 hours after surgery. Avoid hot foods and drinks for several hours after surgery.
For at least 24 hours after your tooth extraction, you should consume only soft foods and liquids. You can ease into a more normal diet when you feel comfortable doing so. Try to stick with easy-to-chew foods for a few days. Initially, choose cool foods like yogurt, pudding, Jell-O, and ice cream.
Rest for at least 24 hours and elevate your head when lying down. Apply an ice pack to your cheek at 20-minute intervals to reduce swelling. Avoid rinsing your mouth, spitting, smoking, or drinking through a straw because this can dislodge your blood clot and cause a painful secondary condition called dry socket.
When Can I Stop Worrying About Dry Socket? Until the full recovery of your extraction site, a dry socket can form if you fail to follow the care tips. Usually, a week (7-8 days) after wisdom tooth extraction, you can stop worrying about a dry socket as gums take this much time to close fully.
The bubbles in carbonated drinks can also cause dry socket by loosening blood clots, so it's best to avoid sodas. Don't eat crunchy foods like nuts, chips, and popcorn because they are hard to chew and can easily get stuck in your extraction sites.
You will need to be extra careful while eating and drinking for several days after your extraction. To minimize your chances of developing a dry socket: Don't drink through a straw, which could dislodge the clot. Avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods, and stick to soft foods instead.

Choose the Right Position
During the initial stages of healing, the tooth extraction site may ooze. Because of this, sleeping on your side is best, at least for the first night. Plus, if you lie flat on your back, you might experience more swelling.
Do not drink or eat for three hours after tooth extraction. We recommend eating soft food and to chew on the other side of your mouth. Do not suck or touch the wound (this includes sticking your finger or tongue in the wound) as this can dislodge the blood clot and may lead to infection or bleeding.
