Normally, only the sponsor can cancel your residence visa. You cannot process the application on your own. If a company decides to cancel an employment visa of its employee, it must first approach Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation with an application to cancel the employee's labour contract and labour card.
The general rule is that if an expatriate resident lives outside the UAE for more than 180 days continuously, his/her residence visa will be nullified automatically. If this happens, they will have to apply for a new entry permit to enter the UAE again.
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (FAICCPS) announced that UAE residents who have been outside the country for more than six months can obtain a re-entry permit to re-enter the country through the FAICCPS portal.

Six (6) Month Ban

Overstaying fines
Those overstaying on a residency visa will have to pay AED 50 each day (AED 50 per day instead of AED 25).
Holders of regular (non-diplomatic) Australian passports can enter the UAE without obtaining a visa in advance. Australians may obtain a free multiple-entry Visit Visa of 30 days' validity (with an additional 10-day grace period) on arrival at any UAE international land, air or sea port.
