The shoulder armor itself weighed 12.2 kg overall, was resistant to both blasters and energy blades, and was capable of withstanding hits from both weapon types with only minor surface pitting.

Appealing to the hate and conflict within him, Darth Sidious goaded Luke into attacking. Vader defended the Emperor and he and Luke were locked in mortal combat. Luke lost control of his anger, viciously attacking Vader, finally beating him down and chopping off his hand with his lightsaber.
When he was Anakin, he feared losing the people closest to him, whether it was by distance or death. He did end up losing pretty much everyone close to him, namely Qui-Gon, his mother Shmi, then lastly Padme. It was his fear of never ending loss that drove him to become Vader.
Darth Vader's Suit Embeds Needles In His Skin

Pure beskar could be damaged by weapons also made out of beskar; because of this, making weapons out of beskar was considered taboo by the Children of the Watch. The metal could also be reforged to any warrior's liking. Beskar was found only on Mandalorian worlds.
