If your travel is short term, your payment will stop when you depart, unless you're travelling for an approved reason. To get Special Benefit while you're overseas, you must travel for an approved reason.
Payments while overseas
If your payments can continue while you're outside Australia and you intend to be away for: less than 12 months, we'll continue to pay you every 2 weeks into your Australian bank account. more than 12 months, we'll pay you every 4 weeks into your Australian or overseas bank account.
To get JobSeeker Payment while you're overseas, you must travel for an approved reason. You may get JobSeeker Payment for up to 6 weeks if you're travelling outside Australia for one of these approved reasons: to attend an acute family crisis - for example, to visit a family member who's critically ill.
The impacts on your age pension payments will depend on a few things, including how long you're overseas. Up to 6 weeks — Generally, your pension payments will continue as normal if you're travelling for up to 6 weeks.

Aussies on Centrelink have been reminded about closures over the holiday period, which could impact payments. Services Australia said payment and reporting dates may be impacted by the summer-time public holidays. Over the holiday period, Centrelink offices will be closed on: Monday, December 25, 2022.
A payment to help with travel costs for work, study or looking for work if you have a disability, illness or injury that means you can't use public transport. To get this you must: be 16 years or older. be unable to use public transport without a lot of help.

The full amount of age pension that a person is eligible for is payable while overseas for 26 weeks. However, once overseas for longer than 26 weeks, the amount of age pension payable to a person is dependent upon the person's length of residency in Australia.

On 1 December 2022, a one-off $4,000 income credit was added to the Work Bonus income bank of those at least pension age and in receipt of an Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, Carer Payment or certain Veterans entitlement. Prior to 1 December 2022, the Work Bonus income bank was capped at $7,800.

From 10 July 2023, if your family earns under $530,000, you can get increased Child Care Subsidy (CCS). The CCS percentage you're entitled to depends on your family's income. The income limit to get the maximum CCS has increased. Families earning up to $80,000 can get an increased maximum CCS amount, from 85% to 90%.
To avoid delays with your payment, you must submit your report by 5 pm local time on your reporting date. Read more about employment income reporting. Depending on what payment you get, there may be other things you need to do to keep getting your payment.
If you're working you can get a Working Credit. It increases how much you can earn before we start reducing your payments. We calculate it when you report your income. You don't need to do anything extra.
