We are successful in removing staining from bird droppings in the vast majority of cases but you will need to treat a small area first to demonstrate effectiveness.
Types of Nuisance Birds
Power washing/pressure washing is the best way to get the droppings off of the surface and remove all traces.
Apply a spray solution of soapy water to droppings before and during clean up to prevent the formation of airborne dust. Continue wetting droppings throughout the clean up. 3) Place droppings in plastic bag and double bag when finished. 4) Clean up is done when there is no visible dust or debris remaining.
A simple solution of baking soda and hot water will do the trick. In a 32-ounce spray bottle, mix a quart of warm or hot water with 4 tablespoons of baking soda. Shake and squirt the solution on any dry bird poop stain, allowing it to soak for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, rinse with a hose.
Mix a disinfectant solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Using a spray bottle or a clean pesticide application sprayer, thoroughly soak the droppings with the disinfectant solution.
The acidic properties of vinegar make it easy to remove bird poop and prevent it from forming on your siding. You can put vinegar in a spray bottle or apply it directly to a sponge to remove the bird poop more easily.
Mix four tablespoons of baking soda with a litre of warm water in a spray bottle and shake so that the powder mixes with the water. Just spray the solution onto the bird droppings and allow it to soak for between 5 to 10 minutes, then rinse off with a hose.
Many people swear by using a mixture of half vinegar and half water to get even the most stubborn droppings off your vehicle. Simple spray the mixture on the offending area, let it sit for a minute and then wipe it away with a cloth.
Mix one tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent with two cups of cool water. Using a clean white cloth, sponge the stain with the detergent solution. Blot until the liquid is absorbed. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the stain disappears.
The WD-40 spray can be used to help you to keep your car free of bird poop stains. Spraying WD-40 on the affected area of the vehicle will loosen the bird droppings and enable quick cleaning of stains.
Cleaning seed feeders
Bird droppings and other contaminants may also spread infectious bird diseases. Clean your feeders about once every two weeks, more often during times of heavy use or wet weather or if there have been reports of salmonella in your area or you have seen sick birds in your yard.
White vinegar can clean almost anything—and you can use it to remove bird poop stains. All you need to do is combine equal parts white vinegar and water, and apply the mixture to the area via a spray bottle or cloth. Let the stain soak for a few minutes, and then blot with thr cloth.
With a pH between 3 and 5, bird poop is high in uric acid, a corrosive element that can quickly damage your vehicle's exterior. Left for too long, dried bird droppings will degrade your clearcoat and may even bleach the paint itself.
Steps to Clean a Birdbath
Remove any large deposits of spilled seed, feces, debris or other contaminants. Use a solution of one part distilled white vinegar to nine parts water to scrub the birdbath thoroughly. Scrub the basin, lip, and any area of the birdbath where the birds can land, perch, drink or bathe.
Even when old and dry, bird droppings can be a significant source of infection. Like histoplasmosis, most cryptococcosis infections are mild and may be without symptoms. Persons with weakened immune systems, however, are more susceptible to infection.
Bird poop contains acids and other chemical substances that eat away at the surface of your car. Since it's quite sticky, it dries on hard – almost cement-like if baked by the sun – so it can etch the clear coat of paint on your car.
You could try T-Cut or a similar colour polish to blend the affected area back in using circular motions, as this should do enough to remove the marks. Birds can be triggered by the harsh, unpleasant smell of vinegar and will avoid it. Citrus oil. Birds tend to avoid the smell of citrus because they don't like it.
Make the solution in a 1:1 ratio. I cup of vinegar mixed with 1 cup of tap water used from a spray bottle should be enough to clean one cage weekly. If you feel the cage is too dirty, you can use a stronger solution but wash it off with regular water and dry completely before putting your bird back in the cage.
Mix vinegar and water in a 50/50 mixture in the spray bottle. Spray the crusted areas and allow it to sit for 10-30 minutes. Rinse with club soda. Apply baking soda to stained areas and use the scrub brush.
