Start with Yakuza 0, then work your way through them (mostly) chronologically like so: Yakuza 0. Yakuza Kiwami. Yakuza Kiwami 2.
First off, if you want to explore the mainline games — that is, Yakuza 0 through 6 for Kiryu's story — then Yakuza 0 is a great place to start. Not only is it one of the best, most beloved titles in the franchise, it's also the first mainline game chronologically.
Why You Should Play Yakuza 0 First. For the most part, mainline Yakuza games are released in chronological order. Yakuza takes place before Yakuza 2, and so on. Remakes aside, Yakuza 0 is the only game that breaks from that tradition, much to the benefit of newcomers.
While there are a few callbacks to Yakuza 0, it's not going to distract you much from your experience. With all its enhancements, Kiwami is the best way to play the first game.
The fun is playing this after playing the whole saga and seeing characters you already know playing different roles. But no, you can perfectly play this without playing the other games.
You can play the game without further knowledge of the series and have fun. From there, playing 0, Kiwami, and the rest of the games at your leisure is excellent. No matter how much experience you have in the Yakuza series, these two games are ideal starting points.
Yakuza 3 Remastered
The collection includes Yakuza 3, 4, and 5, and spoils moments from the previous games. It's best not to play this trio if players have not finished Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1, and Kiwami 2.
You COULD... but why would you want to? Yakuza 0 is considered by many to be the best of the series. Start with 0. You can technically skip kiwami 1 because of the in depth recap in kiwami 2, but, that'd be your call.

Kiwami improves the resolution, framerate, textures and loading times compared to the original game, and additional content was added to resolve some of the more confusing plot points, as well as tie the story more closely to the events of the prequel title Yakuza 0.
When focusing on the main objectives, Yakuza 0 is about 31 Hours in length. If you're a gamer that strives to see all aspects of the game, you are likely to spend around 141 Hours to obtain 100% completion.
The combat of Yakuza 0 is fast-paced and brutal. Given its intensity, players can't really be faulted for forgetting to take a breath and block some of the more damaging attacks in the game. However, a big part of mastering the combat of Yakuza 0 is blocking at the right times.
As with most open-world games, you don't just complete Yakuza 0 by finishing the story. The game has an in-depth completion list, and you have to do all of it to complete the game. Thankfully, the list isn't just a hidden thing, as the game provides you with it, so you can always keep track of your progress.
The Yakuza games shouldn't necessarily be played in the order they were released, or even necessarily in the chronology that they're set. Below is the order in which you should play Yakuza. Trust us, it's for the best.
Yakuza 5 is easily the longest game in the series, but it's also one of the most ambitious.
The games may feature returning characters and might even reference plot points from past games, but there's no single story that runs through all of them. Each Yakuza game has its own storyline that starts and ends within that game.
If you are someone who likes the narrative more and wants to learn the way of the clan with the OG characters, then Yakuza 0 is a great game to get into. Yakuza 0 is A masterpiece, but it's A terrible way to introduce you to the series. Yakuza 0 is one of my favourite games of all time. It's got A sensational story, decent combat, immersive world and deep characters. It has A slow start but once you meet the main 3 antagonists, it kickstarts for real.
While it may seem surprising, Yakuza: Like a Dragon has six different romance options that you can pursue. Most of these romance options have a reward, but there's also a big bonus that you'll get from dating them all.

Yakuza 4 is such a great game. If you played Yakuza 3, you like this one even more. It has almost everything Yakuza 3 had and improved it and even has some new stuff, giving you tons to do. The story is thicker and better than Yakuza 3, it has even more drama and philosophy.
