Congratulations are in order: 1883's Miss Elsa Dutton has gotten herself hitched. And because this is one of the few shows in which that phrase might be taken literally, allow me to clarify: Elsa gets married in Sunday's episode. The groom? Handsome Sam, the Comanche man she met [checks notes] last episode.
Later, Elsa became entangled with Sam, a Comanche warrior who saved her life on the trail. Though she and Sam acknowledged that she was his wife, he felt he could not leave his lands and people, and Elsa agreed to return to him after her family had completed their journey and found a homestead.
This symbolic act sees the Indians rally together and ride. Off the back of this, Elsa decides to stay with the Indians now.
The scene continues and Elsa manages to talk the Lakota warriors down by explaining that her husband is Comanche, and she speaks to them in their language. They let her live and she wanders back to the wagons, still with an arrow lodged in her midriff.
However, despite getting the parents' approval, Sam and Elsa do not marry, at least not in a traditional sense. During her conversation with Margaret, Elsa states that she believes God has sent Sam into her life, and she already considers him a husband.
The Yellowstone prequel never clarified whether Elsa (Isabel May) and Ennis (Eric Nelsen) consummating their relationship in 1883 season 1, episode 5 “The Fangs of Freedom" resulted in Elsa getting pregnant.
Meanwhile, fan-favorite Shea Brennan (Sam Elliott) made good on his promise to see the Pacific Ocean so his late wife could “use [his] eyes to see the world” — then promptly shot himself.
One of the Comanche introduces himself to Elsa as Sam, a name he took from the man who killed his wife. The two race their horses; Elsa wins and Sam nicknames her "Lightning With The Yellow Hair".
Yellowstone fans know that Duttons have been buried in the same spot in Montana for over a century. The Dutton family cemetery makes more sense after 1883 revealed that Elsa was the first person to be buried on the land.
Fans of the show 1883 will recognize Martin Sensmeier as Sam. Sam, a fan favorite, is a Comanche Warrior who is a love interest of Elsa Dutton.
Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky are still going strong after over a decade of marriage.
Elsa was also planning to split from the group to stay with Sam, but after many goodbyes, everyone decided they were going to Oregon anyway. Even Elsa decided to leave her boyfriend so she could find out where Oregon was, while planning to return to the plains in June to reunite with him.
We found them. My father's hunting their killers right now, and if he's hunting them, he'll find them,” Elsa tells the men. Taking in the news, the leader asks Elsa her name. She responds, “Lightning with the yellow hair,” in Comanche.
But when bandits attacked, Ennis was killed. Elsa then killed the man who took Ennis from her.

Sam (Martin Sensmeier) is a Comanche warrior who encounters the Dutton family along their journey in 1883. He and Elsa fall in love and marry in an unofficial ceremony.
She is believed to be either 17 or 18 years old. Elsa stated that her birthday was April 9, one year after the surrender at Appomattox (which would be 1866).
Elsa was born on April 9, 1866 to James and Margaret Dutton, one year after the ending of the American Civil War. She is a farmer's daughter with a younger brother named John.
As some 1883 viewers probably guessed, especially after Episode 109 made it clear that Elsa was a goner, the eventual site for the Yellowstone Ranch within Montana's Paradise Valley was directly tied to Elsa's death, and it also all tethers to another important event connecting the Duttons to surrounding native ...
In order to prove that theory, Elsa decides they should race. James claps his hands together in delight, while Elsa ends up winning. After, she cuts off some of her hair and hands it over to Sam, a memento after he called her “Lightning Yellow Hair.” In return, he hands over a trinket of his own given she won the race.
Elysium was first introduced as the eldest daughter of Elsa and Jack Frost, The Snow Queen and Guardian of Winter. Elysium was originally born and raised in Arendelle, along with her parents, her aunts and uncles, and her younger sister.

They are Northuldra raised Arendellian, aka Native Raised Other. Regardless of where they end up by the end of the movie, they are and always will be Native women.
John Dutton Senior (Audie Rick) is Elsa's brother in the series and is the son of James and Margaret. The character has also appeared in the original Yellowstone, played by Jack Michael Doke.
The episode ends with Elsa and Sam making a dramatic public declaration of their love, which is met with disapproval from some of the others on the wagon train.
She had lovely things to say about her co-star Isabel May and mentioned the last thing Elsa says to her: "See you in the valley." Hill said, "I can't imagine not being with my child in their final moments of life." If you recall, only James was with Elsa when she finally died.
