As a result of the marriage, Francis became king consort in Scotland until his death. The marriage produced no children, and may never even have been consummated, possibly due to Francis's illnesses or undescended testicles.

Francis is only in love with Mary. He only slept with Lola because he had a broken heart because of Mary's decision to end their engagement. Lola gave birth to Francis's son, Jean-Philippe.
With Lola's advice, Francis allowed Mary to be with Condé, hoping that she would change her mind to come back to him. Some time later, when Catherine learned of Mary's affair with Condé and planning to run away to Scotland together; she quickly told Francis of Mary's betrayal and he suddenly collapsed.

Lola gave birth to King Francis' first and only child, John Philip. Queen Mary agreed to be a Godmother to their child. King Francis officially recognized their son and conferred him the title of Baron, with lands and a chateau.
However, her husband's power-grabbing nature soon resurfaced and drove Lola away from him, all the way to English court. Lola found an unforeseen friend in Queen Elizabeth for a while, until she betrayed Elizabeth on what she thought was an order from her Queen. Lady Lola was thereafter beheaded for treason.
In the 2013-2017 CW television series Reign, the character Lady Lola Fleming, played by Anna Popplewell, is based on Mary Fleming. In the 2018 film Mary Queen of Scots, Mary Fleming is played by actress Maria-Victoria Dragus.
The series is based ever-so-loosely on the life of Mary Stuart, otherwise known as the Queen of Scots, and it isn't exactly what you'd call historically accurate.

Reign follows the fictional journey of young Mary Stuart, based on the real reigning monarch, Mary, Queen of Scots, who ruled Scotland for 25 years in the mid 16th century.
