Once back on the ground, Anakin's thrill of victory was immediately tempered by the crushing news of Qui-Gon's death. In a few short days, Anakin's life was completely altered and reimagined by the guidance and teachings of this mysterious Jedi.
Qui-Gon Always Trusted In Anakin's Power
The rest of the Jedi feared Anakin's potential, and while his turn to the dark side proved their anxieties correct, their mistrust of him was one of the many mistakes the Jedi Order made with Anakin.
Unfortunately, he only knew him for a few days, but Anakin still loved Qui-Gon as he loved Obi-Wan. Vader, on the other hand, likely despised Qui-Gon and blamed him for all the suffering he went through.
Qui-Gon Realizes The Truth of The Dark Side
And in the pages of Star Wars: Age of Republic: Qui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi's crisis of faith long before The Phantom Menace is finally shown. Not to overstate it, but Qui-Gon seems to realize what no other member of the Jedi Council is noticing: that they have lost their vision.
Thus, while Qui-Gon was less powerful than Yoda, Palpatine feared him more.
Had Qui-Gon lived, however, he would have become the father-figure Anakin so desperately needed. The bond between Qui-Gon and Anakin would have been far greater than simply master and apprentice; they'd practically have been father and son.
the two times the anakin. communicated with qui-gon. and the single time that darth vader heard him the first known time that qui-gon jinn successfully reached out to anakin.
Master Yoda knew that Darth Vader was once Anakin Skywalker- the boy he sensed too much fear in to train way back in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
The Jedi Council's Rules on Attachments
The choice to leave his mother at a young age continues to haunt Anakin throughout his life. He is plagued by nightmares of her and visions of her fate. When he eventually saves her from a group of Tuskens on Tatooine, his blind anger at her dying state consumes him.
We go for the more simple answer, further considering the details of the question itself. If Anakin didn't go into that chamber as the Jedi confronted Palpatine, then Mace Windu would have defeated Palpatine, killing him. If you remember, Mace had him. He was ready to kill him.
To backtrack a bit, the idea of midi-chlorians was first introduced in The Phantom Menace when Qui-Gon Jinn takes a blood sample from Anakin Skywalker in order to ascertain the young Jedi-to-be's midi-chlorian count.
This is confirmed later in the movie when Obi-Wan informs Padme that Anakin killed them. Both are torn apart with hurt and confusion, trying to make sense of something so terrible.
Arguably, most Star Wars plot points revolve around characters simply not knowing something, very often about their family history. But, on top of all of that, the biggest reason Obi-Wan doesn't know Anakin is alive is that the last time he saw Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith, Ben literally left him for dead.
Yes he did. And the saddest thing is that there was nothing he could do about it. He was broken. The first case is shortly after ROTS when Vader was making his Sith lightsaber.
For Obi-Wan to reach Qui-Gon he must remember how to reach the Force. He must close his eyes that have seen so much failure, death, and destruction, and remember what it takes to truly see that which binds us all. When he does he will not only learn how to become a Force Ghost, he will once again be a great Jedi.

Star Wars' Qui-Gon Jinn would have been the ideal mentor for the young Anakin. Not only could he have been a better source of guidance than Obi-Wan Kenobi in many regards, but he would have also prevented Palpatine from stoking...
Qui-Gon Jinn is canonically the first Jedi to ever appear as a Force spirit. Though Qui-Gon's physical life came to an end following his battle with Maul, Qui-Gon's training and insight into the Force allowed him to learn how to manifest his consciousness into what's known as a Force spirit or a Force ghost.
Even though he perished in battle, Qui-Gon Jinn's consciousness continued. He had found the secret to immortality through the Force. However, unlike the Sith, who wish to live and hold their power for eternity, immortality through the Force is different.
Qui-Gon was ultimately defeated by a move that can only be done with a double-bladed lightsaber as Darth Maul used the handle of the weapon, striking Qui-Gon physically on the chin, stunning him for just long enough to deliver the killing blow.
The redeemed Anakin Skywalker accomplished the state of immortality, as well as his children, Luke Skywalker and Leia Skywalker Organa Solo, years later. Darth Sidious was able to cheat his upcoming death by transferring his spirit into a clone body while falling into the reactor core of the second Death Star.
The Jedi, with the exception of Obi Wan (and Qui Gon before he died), openly distrusted and even disliked Anakin.
Anakin does not have even the slightest bit of remorse. By the end, he feels nothing but anger. Although he feels regret for killing Padme, he still helps the evil Emperor. The film ends with Anakins standing side by side with the man on whose behalf he has committed all his crimes.
