According to the survey, some women actually prefer hairier male bodies than bare male bodies. They feel as though hairlessness on men looks prepubescent and unnatural. The survey also suggests that women prefer male facial hair and body hair because it also makes them appear older and wiser.
Data clearly show that women prefer men with body hair, a direct indicator of sexual maturity. Considering that this feature is present in both men and women, the same would be expected when males look for attractive characteristics in women.
A: One study confirmed that women do find a hairless or nearly-hairless body as more attractive, but considered both hair reduction and retention as socially acceptable. Additionally, they found that men are aware that women prefer hairless men and don't think their bodies are ideal in this respect.
Conversely, just 5% say it's unattractive for a man to have hairy legs. A quarter (26%) find men's hairy legs attractive (21% of men and 30% of women said this). Among 16-24-year-old women, 57% – a rate significantly more than any other age/gender group – say hairy legs on women are neither attractive nor unattractive.
A recent study published in Psychology of Women Quarterly reveals that most women are disgusted by the thought of female body hair or the thought of themselves not shaving. The stigma of female body hair no doubt stems from societal pressure, but perhaps there's a scientific explanation as well.
One study found that 17% of women preferred a fully shaved chest, whereas 53% wished men would trim their chest hair. This shows that women actually prefer chest hair, but it should be maintained or trimmed nicely if the hair is bushy or hair sticking out of a man's shirt.

Nearly 30 percent of women like “a man who trims leg hair down,” and 22 percent “love a man with clean shaven legs.” That means more than half of the women responding like it when a guy does a little legscaping.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, many women appreciate men who trim their pubic areas or shave them smooth entirely. According to some, it helps men and women think of a guy's package as larger. But women appreciate body hair on a guy's arms and legs, and even some on his chest if it's not super thick or like a carpet.
Researchers suggest "women prefer muscles that are hard to build to be larger than muscles that are easier to build." Interestingly, men's ratings of size preferences were larger than women's. In other words, men thought bigger muscles were better, while women didn't have quite the same preferences.
Like so many things, it comes down to a mixture of genetics and hormones. We know that at least some of the genes for hairiness are carried on the X chromosome – and the way these genes are expressed varies between different men and ethnic groups – but hairiness also correlates with high testosterone levels.
In a recent survey we conducted, we found that 83% of the men we spoke to trimmed some or all of their body hair. In the chart above*, you'll see the breakdown of who shaved what. Ears, eyebrows and noses made a predictably high showing, but the next-highest body part on the list was the groin area by a strong margin.
According to AsapSCIENCE, on average, women find hairy men more attractive partners. This harks back to primal instincts apparently, as hair is the product of testosterone – which is a signifier of strength, energy, confidence and sex drive.
Development and growth
The development of chest hair begins normally during late puberty, usually between the ages of 12 and 18. It can also start later, between the age of 20 and 30, so that many men in their twenties have not yet reached their full chest hair development.
Male pubic hair is currently less "full bush" and more "clean-cut," which is the current trend. As a result, not all men should completely shave off their pubic hair because doing so can cause excruciating discomfort and even unpleasant skin conditions like razor burn or ingrown hairs.
Hairy, unshaven legs
Speaking of hair, unshaven legs is another unappealing way guys are easily turned off. Taking the time to shave on a consistent basis shows you care about your body and personal hygiene. Dermatologists recommend shaving after you've been in the shower for about 10-15 minutes.
However, 43 percent of the total women surveyed prefer men keep all their chest hair, considering it a sign of masculinity. And 17 percent want a smooth chest without a single hair.
Out of the 105 women, 78 said they dig it (73%), while 28 (27%) would prefer a hairless man. However, even though the overwhelming majority likes a little hair, moderation was a common theme.
Men develop more androgenic hair than women because we have more androgens. Androgens (sometimes referred to as male sex hormones because we more of them than women) are sexual hormones such as testosterone, androstenedione and DHT, which create male characteristics. This, of course, includes being hairier.
Or, as the name suggests, are they just reflections of our modern reality? Firstly, research really does back up the idea that male body hair is on the out. A study from Mitel in 2018 found that as many as 46 percent of all men removed hair from their bodies, up from just over a third in 2016.
PROTECTION AGAINST THE SUN: People who have a hairy body are less prone to sunburn and rashes. Another purpose that they serve is to keep us warm. This process goes like this- when we feel cold, our body hair stands on end and trap warm air which is closer to the surface of the skin.
Coily hair, commonly referred to as Afro-textured or kinky hair, is naturally very dry and spongy in texture and can be soft and fine or coarse and wiry. Strands form very tight, small curls of zig-zags right from the scalp and are prone to major shrinkage.
