The thread material is made from PDO (polydioxanone), the same material used in surgery to close wounds and will gradually dissolve over time stimulating collagen and elastin production to achieve a complete anti-aging effect – tighter, firmer, youthful, and overall rejuvenated skin.
You will probably see some initial firming and lifting right after your procedure, with your thread lift face results continuing to take shape over the next three weeks or so. As your body begins to naturally generate collagen, your tightened, lifted outcomes should continue to improve for the next few months.
Not only do the threads physically lift the skin, but they also stimulate the body's natural production of collagen, meaning thread lift results will continue to improve over time.
There will be immediate visible results after treatment with suspensory threads, as well as the area feeling tighter. Over the first few days to weeks, the tight feeling will relax to some degree. Soreness almost always occurs after treatment. There may be a dull pain that typically goes away after a week or two.
You can expect an immediate lift to the treated area, but this will always relax somewhat once the initial swelling has settled down. Appearance is expected to gradually improve over a period of 2-3 months as collagen remodeling occurs.
The sensations and swelling will dissipate over the coming week as the tissue heals and acclimates to its new addition. You'll see instant results from the physical lift, but there is more to come since collagen takes 2-3 months to generate fully.
As we mentioned, it is unlikely for PDO threads to slip out of place. Usually, PDO threads are so thin that they can't be felt or seen underneath the skin. But in some rare cases, people with thin skin can sometimes feel them if they press hard enough on the skin. This won't be permanent though because PDO threads are absorbable and will dissolve themselves in the skin over time.
Ascorbic acid can be administered topically or injected directly into the treatment area. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid found in PDO threads. Injecting hyaluronidase into the treatment area can help to break down the threads more quickly.
PDO Thread Post-Care Instructions:
Restrict facial movements for one day. Avoid applying makeup or facial cream for at least two days. Do not pull your skin, massage, scrub or exfoliate the skin for at least three weeks.
PDO Smooth Threads
They are a single filament thread designed to stimulate collagen and support the skin, rather than immediately lift or reposition the skin. We recommend coming in every 4-6 weeks for a total of 3-5 treatment sessions when targeting a specific area.
And these threads stimulate neocollagenesis process of tissues, which results in the production of new collagen. About 6 months after beginning of the implantation, the threads will degradate through hydrolysis. After this, synthetic absorbable thread‐induced collagen synthesis will last about 2 ~ 3 months.
The initial tightening from the threads will help your skin look younger. The improvements will continue as your skin makes more collagen. The threads will dissolve under your skin after about 6 months. Talk to a doctor if you are considering a thread lift.
An average of 10 threads per area (cheek or jawline, for example) are used.
Patients typically need between one and four treatments for the best results, though the skin is visibly improved after the first treatment. Many patients chose to prolong the effects of PDO threading for several years with annual maintenance treatments.
PDO Threads add volume, restore collagen, and tighten the skin for the best result in a single treatment. Botox can be used in conjunction with PDO Threads to prevent future wrinkles in the area. Think of it as preventative maintenance.
After treatment
You may feel bruised over the treatment area for a few days and there may be some swelling and puckering over the skin. This is normal after such a procedure and will almost always diminish and disappear within 7-14 days.
5. Visible thread. This occurs mainly with thin skin and the thread is placed too superficially. The thread will start to dissolve depending on its location but it will take a few months.
This is a normal response, and the swelling typically resolves on its own within a few days to a week after the procedure. In some cases, swelling may persist or worsen due to an adverse reaction to the thread lift or a secondary infection.
One of the risks associated with the use of PDO threads is the possibility of thread breakage. When a PDO thread snaps, patients can feel a sudden sharp pain, which is often accompanied by a popping or cracking sound. This occurs due to the sudden release of tension in the thread.
Fortunately, because the threads placed under the skin during a thread lift are so small, the patient will not feel any of this happening. Most people cannot feel their sutures at all once the skin has healed around them.
Rejection – The thread is a foreign body and might even be rejected by certain people, or it may make start to protrude out of the skin. Rippling – The threads may bunch up and cause the surface of the skin to appear rippled. Numbness – The threads may press on nerves which can lead to numbness.
Kim Kardashian
The socialite admits that she often uses thread lifts and is one of the first to come forward and accept them. According to her, she considers them to be her secret for young and healthy skin. She uses them along with her traditional filler and injection treatments.
The changes in the PDO thread after injection into the body can be observed over time. The thread retains its shape for 12 weeks, becomes fragmented by 24 weeks, and is fully disolved by 48 weeks.
Another thing to keep in mind – Before cutting the thread, have your patient animate facial expressions. Any irregularities noted at that time is a perfect indication to unzip and adjust. Molded threads can be slightly more difficult to unzip and adjust but is still possible.
