In Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comics of the same name, The Boys start taking Compound V almost immediately, while
In the show, Hughie gains the power of teleportation, accelerated healing, and superhuman strength after taking a temporary variant of Compound V, however he is only able to teleport himself and not his clothes, leaving him (and anyone he teleports with him) naked when he rematerializes.
Furthermore, whilst the specific abilities that the subject will develop are often random and completely unpredictable, almost all Supes seem to exhibit varying degrees of superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, durability, stamina and healing factor.
After taking V24, Butcher returns to Gunpowder, successfully beating and interrogating him, demonstrating superpowers including super durability, super strength and laser vision.
Radiation exposure gives Soldier Boy powers akin to a small nuclear bomb. When these powers are used on a Supe, that superhero loses their own power, as was the case with both Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) and Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott).
As implied by its name, the serum provides an ordinary person with superpowers for approximately 24 hours.
While he snaps incriminating photos of the Kix, Butcher surprises Hughie with a syringe full of Compound V to his neck. He is angered by the nonconsensual injection, but Butcher explains that its effects — though permanent — will be necessary for his work.
Butcher And Hughie's Powers Still Aren't Permanent
While it might seem that their deaths are right around the corner, The Boys already revealed how season 3's Billy Butcher powers can remain intact.
1 Homelander
There's little doubt that Homelander is the strongest character in the Boys. No matter how much is thrown at him, what kind of weapon they can conceive, or how many other superheroes get in his way, Homelander's power is unwavering.
Similar to Female of the Species, the Frenchman's use of Compound V has given him abilities such as increased strength, smell and increased durability.
In the comics, Black Noir is a long-time member of the Seven, almost always shown in silhouette with his face obscured. His powers include super strength and supposed skills as a pilot. He is stronger than even Homelander; Mother's Milk states he can "[...] bench a dozen Mack trucks".
Gumchum doesn't do anything else in the series besides off his fellow Supes gum. It's his sole purpose. He might be the worst hero in terms of powers and abilities in The Boys, as he's effectively useless in battle.
Powers. Sonic Clap: By clapping his hands together, Supersonic could generate powerful sound waves. He appears to have a great control over the intensity of each sound wave produced by his claps. His powers were demonstrated in the "Rock My Kiss" music video, produced in 2008 by the Vought Music Group.
Maeve manages to give Butcher three vials of Temp-V or V-24, levelling the playing field by giving its user powers for 24 hours. But all in vain. Maeve gets more V-24 to Butcher and feeling dejected and defeated, the two get drunk and have sex, which left everyone shocked.
A-Train is determined to maintain his status as the fastest man alive. As a result, he uses the drug Compound V to further amp up his powers. This leads to his downfall as he later suffers from a heart attack, ultimately being the reason for him getting kicked out of The Seven.
During his championship, Mother's Milk discovered the powers afforded to him thanks to the Compound V — these included superhuman strength, agility, stamina and durability. Not long after accidentally using these powers to kill someone, he was approached by Billy Butcher and joined the Boys.
Starlight is the one member of The Seven who has genuinely good intentions and wants to help people. Unfortunately for her, she's not the most powerful member of the team, so she has to work with others to influence The Seven from the inside and stop her villainous co-members from committing evil.
The grand finale of The Boys comic book series confirms that there is only one hero who is actually stronger than Homelander, and that's his (even more) evil clone, Black Noir. Created to be an upgraded version of Homelander, Black Noir proves his superiority in the final battle between these two deranged powerhouses.
In Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comics of the same name, The Boys start taking Compound V almost immediately, while Butcher injects Hughie on their first mission against Teenage Kix. Although Hughie is angry at Butcher, he soon comes to accept his powers (which are permanent) of improved strength and durability.
Although the twins were conceived inside Wanda's fake reality, the magic surrounding their birth could be so strong that they won't disappear once they step out to the outside world. Billy, specifically, could grow so strong that he surpasses Wanda's abilities.
However, a fight in The Boys season 3 episode "Herogasm" makes it appear for a moment as though Kimiko's powers may have returned. Ultimately, they didn't, but she proved she is still a force to be reckoned with. Little Nina has Kimiko captured in order to get back at Frenchie for his repeated failures.
How Strong Is Hughie Compared To Homelander? Although suped-up Hughie is far stronger than normal Hughie, he still doesn't come close to how powerful Compound V has made Homelander. Hughie can teleport, but Homelander is so fast that he could probably beat Hughie to wherever he is going.
It'd be classic Campbell misfortune for Hughie to suffer medical consequences after four doses, while Butcher gets away with more. The Boys history would then be repeating itself, with Butcher's anger and selfishness getting yet another younger brother killed....
Comic Noir is actually revealed to be a Homelander clone, created by Vought as a backup plan in case their star supe were to go rogue. The silent killer eventually murders Homelander, and he is able to do so because he possesses the same lethal abilities as him.
