There is no legal obligation for employers to pay employees while they are absent on Defence service, including training. However, many employers do provide paid leave, and some provide top-up pay to assist their employee Reservists, as military pay for many Reservists is less than their civilian pay.
If you're going through a voluntary military separation, the government will typically pay for one final military move up to six months after your final out date. But depending on where you are headed, you could be forced to pay some of that cost out of your own pocket.

They claim to have been deployed for 2+ years
In many cases, scammers will claim to be on extended deployments to keep their fraud going. But deployments do not last three years — and most don't last more than 15 months. Any soldier who claims to be deployed for three years or more is likely a scammer.
Military members can access their money from overseas. They pay bills online, buy items from websites and even arrange for car loans. If they ask you for money -- even a loan, this is a scam.

Getting a Military Discharge
There is no way to simply quit the military once you are on active duty. You are contractually, and perhaps morally, obligated to see your commitment through. However, you could be discharged from duty early if you are physically or psychologically unable to perform your duties.
Military leave of absence law
The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) grants military service members the right to take a leave for military service and then to return to their previous jobs.
You'll need to serve 20 years or more to qualify for the lifetime monthly annuity. Your retirement benefit is determined by your years of service. It's calculated at 2.5% times your highest 36 months of basic pay.

The biggest deduction from your civilian paycheck will likely be taxes. In the military, the federal government generally only taxes base pay, and many states waive income taxes. Other military pay—things like housing allowances, combat pay or cost-of-living adjustments—may not be taxed.

The Army Holiday Block Leave is 10 days
The 10-day break generally starts a week before Christmas and lasts until a week after Christmas. This allows drill sergeants and basic training staff members to spend the holidays with their families.
Being on active duty is similar to working a full-time job. In the Army, for instance, its active duty soldiers serve 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the length of their service commitment (that's not to say that each soldier works a 24-hour shift, just that there are always soldiers on duty).
