When Botox is applied to problem areas around the eyebrows, the muscles relax and the skin on top of them becomes smoother. The muscles around the eyebrows are pulled upwards, elevating the eyebrows and making a patient's eyes appear more open.
A small amount of Botox needs to be injected above the lateral aspect of the eyebrows to lift droopy brows and provide a lift. By skillfully injecting small amounts of “Baby Botox” into key areas of the glabella and forehead areas, the forehead will be raised and you will have a relaxed and more youthful appearance.
Spock brows happen when Botox is injected only at the central part of the upper forehead, leaving the sides untouched. When the central forehead is weakened and the outer sides remain active, it causes the central brow to drop and the outer brow to appear like it's lifted too high.
What causes this over-lifted brow? Unnatural elevation of the brow arch is related to the technique of botulinum administration. Specifically, placement of neurotoxin can enhance or minimize the brow arch. The major muscle of the forehead, the frontalis muscle is solely responsible for lifting the eyebrows.
The key is to balance the forces between the forehead elevators and depressors. Typically, a “Spock Brow” is due to overtreating depressors and/or undertreating elevators in the outer half of the forehead. It can be corrected by placing a small amount of Botox into the elevators in the outer forehead.
“If botox is placed too low or too much botox is used in the forehead, you can get flattened or heavy brow sensation.” Additionally, undesirable results from Botox may occur when muscles other the intended target are relaxed.
However, ptosis can also occur as a side effect of Botox treatment. About 2 percent of people who get a Botox injection may experience ptosis, especially when an untrained individual administers the injection. This probability declines to 1 percent when a skilled healthcare professional does the procedure.

What happens when you do this with a Botox treatment is that the muscle you normally use to raise your eyebrows is relaxed while the muscles you use to lower them are still active. As a result, you'll feel like your eyebrows are heavy and the position of your eyebrows may even do down.
According to Dr Gavin Chan, one of the most important things practitioners can do is to, “inject the lateral tail of the corrugator which is the muscle which causes the bunching (6.35) of the frown. Superficially injecting the lateral tail of the frown (corrugator) muscle can help avoid ptosis”.

Using Botox to raise the eyebrows works by manipulating the muscles that keep the eyebrows in place: the corrugator supercilii, the procerus, the orbicularis oculi and the frontalis muscles.
Sagging eyelid skin can be a cosmetic and medical concern. Depending on the severity of your condition, Botox can help. An injection of the neurotoxin in your forehead and around your eyebrows can effectively treat a brow that droops slightly and minor sagging skin of the eyelids.
The most common negative reaction to injections to your face is a droopy eyelid, also called ptosis or blepharoptosis. Most people don't have this problem. Around 5% of people who get Botox will have problems with eyelid droop. This number falls to less than 1% if a skilled doctor does the injection.
Similarly, injecting Botox in your forehead over the long term can weaken the muscles there. As a result, your forehead muscles won't contract as much, which means they won't develop wrinkles as much. While weakened muscles may not be your end-goal, a wrinkle-free forehead sure is.
2. Frontalis muscles. The frontalis muscles are located in the forehead and are responsible for creating frown lines. When Botox injections are administered too close to this area, it can affect the blood vessels and cause complications.
