Leviticus 20:10 threatened that 'the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife … the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death', while Deuteronomy 22:22 thundered, if a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then both of them shall die'.
Rev. Graham: Only one sin that can't be forgiven is on God's list — and that is the sin of rejecting Him and refusing His offer of forgiveness and new life in Jesus Christ. This alone is the unforgivable sin, because it means we are saying that the Holy Spirit's witness about Jesus is a lie (see Luke 12:10).
Characteristics of Mortal Sins
Grave Matter: The sin must involve an action or thought that is a serious transgression of God's law, such as murder or adultery. Full Knowledge: The individual must have full knowledge of the fact that what they are doing is wrong and against God's law.
It is important to understand that Adultery is a crime in many jurisdictions, although it is rarely prosecuted. State law typically defines Adultery as vaginal intercourse, only. Therefore, two people seen kissing, groping, or engaged in oral sex, do not meet the legal definition of Adultery.
There's no definitive answer as to whether you should forgive someone who has cheated. It's up to you to make that decision. While forgiveness can be a strength, you might ask yourself if you want to take a risk on someone once the trust has been broken. It's not wrong to do.
Both sexes forgive similarly
Despite experiencing the different types of infidelity differently, men and women are about equally willing to forgive their partner. And the new findings show that the degree of forgiveness is not related to the type of infidelity.
Jesus gives permission for someone to remarry when adultery has taken place. “And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”9 Here, the phrase “and marries another” raises the issue of remarriage.
There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.
Matthew 18: 21-22 21 Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” 22 Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.
All sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin” (Mark 3:28-29). Notice, there is a positive and a negative in what Jesus says.
32 But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself. 33 Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away. 34 For jealousy arouses a husband's fury, and he will show no mercy when he takes revenge.

Forgivable: Cheating Before You're Committed
If cheating occurs before you and your partner have defined the relationship, it may be possible to forgive them for hooking up with someone else, or going on a few dates.
Perhaps the most difficult thing is to forgive cheating on a partner, infidelity, because this kind of betrayal causes us to start doubting ourselves. Not only does it make our world come crashing down, it makes us feel like everything we've built in the relationship is fake.
While it might not be easy and take a considerable amount of time and work, it's possible to regain trust after cheating. Your marriage can still be salvaged, given that both you and your wife are willing to put in the effort and be committed to fixing the relationship.
What is infidelity? If adultery only refers to physical sexual contact outside of a committed relationship, infidelity is left to encompass all other forms of cheating. Merriam-Webster defines it as a romantic or sexual relationship with someone other than your spouse or partner.
In many cases, flirting is cheating when your partner doesn't approve or your actions can go against the relationship or your partner. If you're in a committed romantic relationship, you can choose love. Opting to avoid doing the things you know will hurt your partner is a way of doing this.
Physical infidelity is pretty self-explanatory. “It's typically construed as any type of touching, kissing, or sexual behavior with a person who is not your exclusive partner,” says Weiser.
