The mind of God does not change for God does not change. Things change, and they change according to His sovereign will, which He exercises through secondary means and secondary activities. The prayer of His people is one of the means He uses to bring things to pass in this world.
Prayer is not to instruct God, or inform God, or impress God. Prayer moves you and me — it is faith that moves God's hand. The value of prayer is two-fold. First, prayer activates your faith.
God uses our prayers to accomplish His will
Through prayer, God allows us to be involved in His work that will go on forever. When we pray, we participate in God's will being accomplished “on earth as it is in heaven.” (Matt 6:9-10).
So does God change His mind when we pray? No. God is unchangeable—He is immutable.
God Himself declared that what He has spoken with His Holy Mouth will happen and WILL BE DONE SUDDENLY in our lives (Isaiah 48:3). Psalm 147:15 “He sendeth forth His commandment upon earth: HIS WORD RUNNETH VERY SWIFTLY”.
God is shifting you into position for the promise that you've been praying for. Sometimes a God shift looks like chaos, setback and even defeat but God is saying to you, “When the dust settles, you will understand why you had to go through what you've been through.”
He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you. It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.
Yet, although prayer does not actually change God's mind, prayer does change things. “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working” (James 5:16). We do not know God's eternal, sovereign plan in all its details, but we do know that He works through prayer and answers prayer.
Through the scriptures, we are taught that God will always hear our prayers and will answer them if we address Him with faith and real intent. In our hearts we will feel the confirmation that He does hear us, a feeling of peace and calm. We can also feel that everything will be fine when we follow the Father's will.
Prayer is powerful because God commands us to do it, and it is a way of daily communicating with Him. The resources below will help you cultivate a consistent prayer life and a heart for prayer in accordance with His word.
Prayer changes us by making us closer to God and knowing Him better. The Holy Spirit guides us through prayer. The Bible tells us that Jesus assured us that after His resurrection, the Holy Spirit will be with us forever and that the Holy Spirit is all around us to give us wisdom in knowing God.
Fifteen hundred years after Noah's great flood, King Solomon was receiving some advice from his father, King David, who said this, ” … for the Lord searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts” 1 Chronicles 28:9. In other words, “Be aware of what's in your head, son. God sees it.”
The Holy Spirit can move like a “rushing wind” if He so chooses, changing the very atmosphere. This is the mysterious multi-dimensional presence of a Being that we cannot begin to comprehend.
But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. The World English Bible translates the passage as: In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
Research consistently shows that prayer can have numerous benefits. For example, prayer can be a solid source of self-soothing and self-comfort when one is experiencing pain, coping with loss, or dealing with traumatic circumstances.
Is it possible that God would get angry with us because we pray too much about a particular problem? I worry about bothering Him too much with my problems. ANSWER: Absolutely not! The Bible tells us to persist in prayer and to pray about everything.
They are often said as a closing prayer for church service as a benediction. Lord God, thank you for your abundant love and care for us. Thank you for forgiving our sins, even for the sins we do not realize we commit. Lord, please fill us with your wisdom and your compassion for others.
What is purgatory? Purgatory is the state of those who die in God's friendship, assured of their eternal salvation, but who still have need of purification to enter into the happiness of heaven.
In this final battle before the Day of Judgment Jesus will descend from heaven to save the Muslim army, killing infidels simply be breathing on them and defeating and killing the dajjal simply by looking at him – or looking at him and putting a sword through him. The dajjal will melt away.
Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like me. I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come.
