Research now shows that even vegetables high in purines do not increase chances of gout, so even mushrooms, spinach and asparagus are safe.
New research out of China using a rat model has found that the fungal species Phellinus igniarius can alleviate the symptoms of gouty arthritis. In addition, they found that a cultivated version of this scarce fungus performed well.
Mushrooms do contain a moderate amount of purine but should still be included as part of a healthy diet. Enjoyed in moderation, fresh mushrooms may provide some additional benefits as well.
Consume high amounts of fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, low-dairy products and whole grains, such as cherries. Cherries are proven to lower uric acid for people with gout. Make sure any health conditions, diabetes, high cholesterol or high blood pressure, are under control.
Eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains, which provide complex carbohydrates. Avoid foods and beverages with high-fructose corn syrup, and limit consumption of naturally sweet fruit juices. Water. Stay well-hydrated by drinking water.
Mushrooms are rich in anti-inflammatory components, such as polysaccharides, phenolic and indolic compounds, mycosteroids, fatty acids, carotenoids, vitamins, and biometals. Metabolites from mushrooms of the Basidiomycota taxon possess antioxidant, anticancer, and most significantly, anti-inflammatory properties.
Avocados are high in vitamin E, an anti-inflammatory that can help curb gout flares.
1. Liver. If you have gout, dishes like chopped liver and liver and onions are best avoiding, along with other organ meats like kidney, heart, sweetbread, and tripe, since they're high in purines.
One further precaution when balancing foods and gout: Many dried beans, peas, and lentils are high in purines, and you may find you need to avoid them.
Dairy. Dairy products, such as milk, cheese, and yogurt, are low in purines, and they are a good fit for a diet to manage or prevent gout. They are good protein alternatives to meat, and reduced-fat dairy products are lower in saturated fat than full-fat ones.

Beta-glucans, a type of carbohydrate found in mushrooms, has potential anti-inflammatory activity, which may help protect the body against disease.
Drink at least 10-12 eight-ounce glasses of non-alcoholic fluids daily, especially if you have had kidney stones. This will help flush the uric acid crystals out of your body.
Apples too are a storehouse of natural fructose. Too much consumption of apples can worsen the gout condition even more. Dates are low-purine fruits however it contains a high amount of fructose. It can be risky to consume dates as they can alter the amount of uric acid in your blood.
The dark varieties, like blackberries and blueberries, have been shown to help limit the production of uric acid.
