As the battle reached its climax, Tanjiro was able to knock the doll's head off and discovered that the mechanical body contained a mysterious sword. Fans of the manga will recognize this sword as the one carried by Yoriichi Tsugikuni himself.
He was a genius when it came to swordsmanship and nearly killed Kibutsuji Muzan all by himself. So now, Tanjiro, the protagonist of the Demon Slayer series, has access to a sword that belonged to the best swordsman to have ever lived.
What is the Yoriichi Type Zero sword? As a Demon Slayer, Yoriichi Tsugikuni carried a fairly standard Nichirin katana - deep black in color, that changed bright red during combat. This is the sword that appeared out of the neck of the doll at the end of Demon Slayer season three's second episode.
Back. Demon Salyer Season 3 has given Tanjiro a mysterious new sword – one that will hopefully better prepare him for the fights against the Upper Rank demons that are now gunning for him and the rest of the Demon Slayers.
Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc will see Tanjiro obtaining the 300 years old Nichirin blade of the legendary Yoriichi Tssugikuni.
After Tanjiro chipped his sword in his battle against Upper Rank Six, Hotaru trained more to make a stronger sword. Hotaru demonstrated his professionalism and expertise when he polished and sharpened the 300-year-old blade left in Yoriichi Type Zero while completely ignoring the wounds he received from Gyokko.
Yoriichi's crimson-red blade is a significant piece of history in the world of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. This sword played a crucial role in the Demon Slayer series. In Demon Slayer season 3 episode 5, Tanjiro uses the black Nichirin sword given to him by Hagnezuka to battle the demon, Hantengu.
It was Yoriichi's sword, he found it inside Yoriichi Type Zero doll when he destroy the head. And then hotaru took the sword to fix it. Tanjiro also use Kyojuro's tsuba in this sword.

Overview. Nichirin Blades can turn into virtually any color dependent on the user and their Breathing Style, however, there is one color that cannot be accessed, which is a bright red color. This color was first discovered by Yoriichi Tsugikuni when he became a Demon Slayer due to his Sun Breathing.
Like many other aspects of the Demon Slayer Corps, the first Demon Slayer Mark was found on Yoriichi Tsugikuni, the inventor of Sun Breathing. He is the only known human to have been born with the Mark, a flame-like pattern on his forehead.
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc episode #2 sees Tanjiro discover the "secret weapon" hidden in the Swordsmith Village; a battle training doll called Yoriichi Type Zero.
The World's Oldest Swords
The oldest swords ever discovered are the Arslantepe swords. Found in modern-day eastern Turkey and dating to around 3300 BC, these first swords predate the production of bronze and are made of an arsenic copper alloy.
Katzin brought the sword ashore after fearing it could be further buried under the sea's shifting sands. He then reported his find to the IAA and was given a certificate of appreciation for "good citizenship," an IAA spokesperson said.
Tanjiro's connection to Yoriichi is not through blood relation, but through their similar appearances, which is due to the divine nature of Sun Breathing.
The warrior Muzan feared was a swordsman named Yoriichi Tsugikuni. Yoriichi was the only slayer before Tanjiro who came close to killing Muzan, and the flashback of their fight occurred in Chapter 187. Yoriichi encountered Muzan and Tamayo in a bamboo forest, where the two engaged in combat.
This was because more limbs were required to accurately depict the movements of the legendary swordsman. No one knows the strength of Yoriichi Tsukiguni like his brother does. It is highly possible that Kokushibo manipulated his flesh and decided to have 6 eyes to have better vision.
However, Tanjiro is not a descendant of Yoriichi Tsukiguni. Tanjiro is the descendant of someone who knew Yoriichi personally and was a good friend of his as well. Sumiyoshi was rescued by Yoriichi when a demon threatened his life. Since then Yoriichi often met him and they became close acquaintances.
Shortly before his death of at least 85 years in age, he battled his older twin brother, Kokushibo who turned into a demon. Despite his advanced age, he quickly gained the upper-hand in the battle with a single move, slitting his throat before he finally died standing up, unscathed.
Yoriichi Tsugikuni's Black Sword
Yoriichi, the first demon slayer, used the same sword that Tanjiro found after the Swordsmith Village arc adapted in Demon Slayer Season 3. It is a standard Nichirin katana with a deep black blade.
So to compare Tanjiro's Demon form in which he's immune to sunlight, and also has the prowess of Sun Breathing, it would give him an upper hand, but still he would lose to Yoriichi.
Over the course of the series, Tanijiro unlocks multiple breathing styles, but only two have been shown in the anime so far.
Tanjiro Kamado wields a black Nichirin blade, but the symbolism of such a sword was initially unknown. Black blades are seen as a rarity, as demon slayers who wield them are doomed to die young.
