Drinking large amounts of green tea or a single cup of coffee each day may reduce the risk of death for people who survive heart attacks and strokes, new research shows.

After adjusting for confounding variables, higher green tea consumption was found to reduce stroke prevalence for those drinking <1 cup/d (OR, 0.82; 95% CI, 0.70~0.96), 1 to <3. cups/d (OR, 0.75; 95% CI, 0.59~0.97), and ≥3 cups/d (OR 0.62; 95% CI, 0.39~0.98), verses those who did not drink green tea.
Ischemic stroke, the most common type of stroke, is treated with the 'clot-busting' drug known as tPA. The drug must be given to patients within three- to four-and-a-half hours after the onset of stroke symptoms, and preferably sooner.
Tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) is a thrombolytic. tPA improves the chances of recovering from a stroke. Studies show that patients with ischemic strokes who receive tPA are more likely to recover fully or have less disability than patients who do not receive the drug.
Lemon Juice Might Lower Stroke Risk
One interesting health benefit of lemon juice is that it can help prevent strokes. A study that looked at the reported diets of over 69,622 people found that those who consumed citrus fruits and juices had the lowest risk of strokes.
1. Fruits and vegetables
Foods high in potassium, such as sweet and white potatoes, bananas, tomatoes, prunes, melon and soybeans, can help you maintain a healthy blood pressure — the leading risk factor of stroke. Magnesium-rich foods, such as spinach, are also linked to a lower risk of stroke.

Tea. A popular remedy to stop bleeding after dental work is to apply a wet tea bag to the affected area. It's thought the tannins in tea promote blood clotting and have astringent abilities. Tannins are natural chemicals that give tea its bitter flavor.
The initial recovery following stroke is most likely due to decreased swelling of brain tissue, removal of toxins from the brain, and improvement in the circulation of blood in the brain. Cells damaged, but not beyond repair, will begin to heal and function more normally.
(10) Get enough potassium
Potassium is abundant in fruit, vegetables, and milk products. Therefore, if you consume recommended amounts of these food groups, you should achieve an adequate intake of potassium. Good fruit choices include bananas, apricots, oranges, cantaloupe, and apples.

Research shows that the brain possesses an extraordinary ability to heal itself after stroke. This ability, known as neuroplasticity, is why many stroke survivors go on to make astonishing recoveries. However, this healing process cannot happen on its own.
