Balance Problems and Vertigo
Because acoustic neuromas arise from the vestibular nerve responsible for balance, unsteadiness or balance problems may be early symptoms of acoustic neuroma. Nearly half of people with acoustic neuromas notice these symptoms, which tend to worsen if the tumor grows.
Vertigo is rarely reported as a primary symptom associated with brain metastasis. Vertigo accompanied mainly with headache or ataxia should raise suspicion. In patients with cancer, vertigo and red flags symptoms, use of MRI is mandatory.

Less commonly, tumors that develop in the cerebellum—the part of the brain that controls movement—may cause vertigo, a condition characterized by balance problems and room-spinning sensations.
Difficulty thinking, speaking, or finding words. Changes in personality or behavior. Weakness, numbness, or loss of movement in one part or one side of the body. Difficulty with balance or dizziness.
Imaging tests.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is commonly used to help diagnose brain tumors. Sometimes a dye is injected through a vein in your arm during your MRI study.
In general, the most common symptoms of a brain tumor may include: Headaches. Seizures or convulsions. Difficulty thinking, speaking or finding words.
If you have been experiencing vertigo for more than a day or two, it's so severe that you can't stand or walk, or you are vomiting frequently and can't keep food down, you should make an appointment with a neurologist.
Cancer in the brain: Some cases of dizziness or balance problems may signal the location of cancer. Dizziness may occur as a result of a brain tumor, for example. Cancers in the cerebellum—the lower back part of the brain that controls coordination—often cause these symptoms.

Signs and symptoms of brain or spinal cord tumors may develop gradually and become worse over time, or they can happen suddenly, such as with a seizure.

Brain tumours can start at any age. But as we get older our risk of developing most cancers, including brain tumours, increases. The risk of brain tumours is greatest in those aged between 85 and 89 years.
While both dizziness and vertigo are considered balance problems, the two symptoms are different. Dizziness is an overall feeling of being unbalanced. With vertigo, you have a sensation that you're moving or that your surroundings are spinning.

MRI is preferred over CT due to its superiority in visualizing the posterior fossa, which is often the location for a central etiology of vertigo.
