Feeling unappreciated means that you feel that other people don't value you. It might mean that they don't appreciate the things you've done for them, or it might mean that they don't value you in general.
The main reason stellar team members get overlooked for opportunities is a lack of visibility. Fair or not, many decisions that impact your career are made behind closed doors by senior leaders who know what opportunities are on the horizon.
Not having, or being able to see the purpose, can make it harder feel motivated and may lead to procrastination. No one should dread going to work, and might be a sign that it's time to look elsewhere.
Why we avoid eye contact: Research shows people often avoid eye contact if they are introverted, socially anxious, or have a neurotic personality. Pointing yourself away from the other person can signify you're distracted or uninterested in the conversation.
A quiet and shy demeanor could be the reason you are overlooked. You may not put yourself out there enough, or people may think you just aren't interested. Try to become more involved with others if you believe your shyness is the reason for your exclusion. Talk more and step out of your comfort zone.

Something that's overlooked is either not seen or deliberately ignored.
Feeling undervalued is a constant issue
This feeling might manifest itself in various ways, such as not being included in important projects, receiving lower pay than colleagues with similar roles, or having your ideas consistently dismissed.
To ignore something, is to know it exists but not pay any attention to it. The people at dinner ignored the child's acting up. To overlook(verb) something, is to miss it entirely, usually one does not know something existed and is overlooked until it is pointed out later.
Some common synonyms of overlook are disregard, forget, ignore, neglect, and slight. While all these words mean "to pass over without giving due attention," overlook suggests disregarding or ignoring through haste or lack of care. in my rush I overlooked a key example.
Express your concerns
During the meeting, be honest and explain that you want to feel more appreciation from your employer. Emphasize the importance of working at an organization that values your time and skills.
If someone doesn't thank you for your hard work, acknowledge your effort, talk to you, or show interest in your actions, they may be taking advantage of you. This behavior may make you feel unappreciated, insecure, unloved, or sad. In this case, counseling or a change in the relationship may be in order.
This can happen if you have low self-esteem or suffer from codependency. But most often if we feel ignored it's because the ways we interact and communicate are actually pushing other people away. “Overlook” means ignoring, failing to notice, or observing from a high place. “Look over” means inspecting something in a cursory way to establish its merits or get a general idea of what it is like.
neglect, disregard, ignore, overlook, slight, forget mean to pass over without giving due attention. neglect implies giving insufficient attention to something that merits one's attention.
Poor demeanor. Regardless of how good a high performer might be, any track of poor attitude might result in managers not promoting them. Immaturity, poor communication, a lack of empathy, and a lack of self-awareness lead to managers overlooking high performers for promotions.
Dry promotion: A dry promotion is when a company promotes an employee without increasing the salary. The employees' job responsibilities and status increase in a dry promotion, but they do not receive any monetary benefits.
