Retinal cells that are responsible for color vision become less sensitive as you age. This can make colors appear muted and less contrasted, especially blue hues. Unfortunately, there is no treatment for age-related loss of color perception.
The skin beneath your eyes is thin and has numerous blood vessels. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity. After years of wrinkling as we talk and smile, the skin finds it harder and harder to spring back.
To plump up the skin under your eyes, you want to gently apply products that will intensely moisturize this sensitive area. Look for products that contain ultra-hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, squalene, and avocado oil.

As you grow older, the tissues and muscles by your eye area weaken, so they sag a bit, making you look a bit sleepy. As you mature, our skin's elasticity weakens. Fats and fluids in the eye area can accumulate in your lower eyelids, making them look plumper, and in turn, a lot puffier.
Collagen levels decrease with age and, unfortunately, there's no way to prevent this. The good news is that there are several cosmetic treatments that can rebuild or restore collagen.

Pull your lids up from the brow and apply the eye shadow above the area where your eye droops. This will make your outer lids appear more arched. Pro tip: Smooth out the colour gradation on your upper eyelids so you don't end up with a colour that's too dark, weighing down your eyes.

Should you use retinol under your eyes? Yes, definitely. While it is true that retinol – a form of vitamin A – is a powerful ingredient and the skin under your eyes is delicate, there's no reason why you should miss out on the amazing benefits of retinol.

“Eye creams with retinoids are great for tightening up the undereye area,” she says. “Retinoids are a form of vitamin A that stimulates skin cell turnover and collagen production. This helps with evening out the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines.”
Vaseline can help with a number of dry eyelid conditions. People who notice that their skin is dry or irritated during the dry, cold winter months can use it to prevent moisture loss from the eyelids. Some people also use it as a moisturizer to reduce the risk of wrinkles, or as a supplement to traditional eye creams.
As far as the female or male aging timeline, the biggest changes typically occur when people are in their 40s and 50s. However, it's not unlikely to notice changes in your mid to late-30s, as well. Some of the first signs of aging are droopy skin, smile lines, and wrinkles. These changes can be jarring, but natural.
