If your passport expires in six months or less, you may need a new one. Some foreign governments need visitors to carry passports with at least six months validity (beyond their planned stay) or they may be refused entry.

In addition to making sure your passport is still valid, many countries recommend that travelers have at least 6 months of validity remaining on their passport when traveling internationally.
The Issue Date of your passport can be found on the data page of your passport book or on the front of your passport card. Some countries require that your passport be valid at least six months beyond the dates of your trip. Some airlines will not allow you to board if this requirement is not met.
Your passport is valid from the date it is issued until the date it expires. You can use it throughout this period, subject to meeting the visa and immigration requirements of the countries you wish to visit or transit.
In Asia, nations like China, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand enforce this rule. South American countries like Brazil, Venezuela and Bolivia also need a passport that's good for six months.

We strongly recommend that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your arrival in Thailand to avoid possible denied entry. Thai immigration officials or airline staff may ask for your onward/return ticket.
