Ares and Athena interrupted the childhood training of Kratos and Deimos in Sparta and kidnapped Deimos. Kratos attempted to stop Ares, but Ares swept him aside and scarred him across his right eye. Taken to Death's Domain, Deimos was imprisoned and tortured for many years by the god of death, Thanatos.
The leading theories include the possibility of Deimos' birthmark being genetic and Atreus' scars being related, as well as possible self-scarification as a young Atreus was trying to look more like his father. Alternatively, it's just a coincidence, and Atreus got his scars in an accident or fight.
It's basically a scar over a scar. In GoW II he was stabbed by Zeus and taken to the Underworld. It was there that Gaia healed his stomach (first scar) and he escaped the Underworld.
Moreover, Mimir had warned Kratos time and again about Odin's treachery. Thus, Kratos decided that it was in their best interests to not get into any kind of agreement with Odin, having had his fair share of ill experiences with other gods.
Blaming Kratos for having brought the war to Asgard and for the destruction to his family, the God of Thunder was blinded by anger and refused to listen to his enemies, who unsuccessfully urged him to stop fighting.
It is also implied that he has an intense fear of Kratos as well, as he knows nothing about him except for the fact that he's extremely powerful and having fought and killed one of his sons, Baldur and his two grandsons, Magni and Modi in battle.
As the temple burned, a village oracle cursed Kratos and condemned him to wear the "mark of his terrible deed"; the ashes of his family, which turn his skin pale white, earning him the title "Ghost of Sparta".
Throughout the entire game ,it seems that Kratos regretted killing Zeus and for the longest time and I couldn't really understand why. He becomes very solemn, quiet and sometimes defensive whenever he is brought up.
Out of all the Gods of War, Kratos was the most powerful and fearsome one, since he had the powers of Pandora's Box, the powers of the God of War that belonged to Ares, and plenty of weapons and magic from the other gods and the knowledge to use the godly powers by Athena after the death of his brother.
Initially, Atreus thought his father would go out to hunt. Kratos never took Atreus hunting due to Faye's request, as Atreus was a very sickly kid. Because of this, Kratos and Atreus barely had time with one another, which is why their relationship is so distant at the beginning of the game.
Atreus. As Kratos' son, Atreus inherited the power of Spartan Rage from him. However, during his early life, he would fall ill whenever he became too angry, signified by physical weakness and a hacking cough.
Atreus discovers that he can transform into a bear and a wolf in God of War Ragnarok, and this has both narrative and mythological significance.
1 Weakness: His Nightmares
Up until God of War III, Kratos is plagued by nightmares, which partially explains why he's so vulnerable to illusions and mind tricks. It also, of course, explains his unquenchable rage. At the end of the day, Kratos' nightmares are one of his greatest weaknesses.
Ares, the original god of war, unless Kratos unseats him off of his throne and title. This was no easy feat and his boss fight is a testament to that. The battle between Ares and Kratos is one of the first truest combats between two gods.
12 Anos Voldigoad Can Destroy Kratos By Looking At Him
His name is Anos Voldigoad, and he is said to be the strongest demon in history. He was actually able to gravely injure someone with just his heart beat. Anos wields a sword called Venuzdonoa, which is capable of destroying anything in existence.
In fear that Kratos, his son, would overthrow him, Zeus decided to betray and murder him. While Kratos was destroying Rhodes in an effort to be noticed by fellow gods, Zeus drained his godly power and gave life to a nearby statue, which was sent to kill Kratos.
So then, in order to break fate, Kratos must make the choice not to kill any of the Norse deities in God of War Ragnarok and choose to trust Atreus to take care of himself. This is precisely what Kratos does and is the reason Kratos doesn't die in God of War Ragnarok.
Despite Hercules animosity towards Kratos, it does appear they were close at some point, as they both address each other as brothers and he is the only Demigod/God Kratos was noticeably reluctant to fight.
He's killed 19 Full blooded Gods.
While he wouldn't know it for most of his life, Kratos was a demigod as he is the son of Zeus, but he would later become a full-on god, the God of War to be precise, after killing Ares.
The main character, Kratos, is a former demigod, along with his brother, Deimos, being the sons of Zeus and Callisto. Because of that, they possessed great physical god-powers. Like another demigod, Hercules, Kratos eventually ended up becoming a full God himself, but in Hercules' case it only happened in mythology.
Fear Factor. Kratos is afraid of being found by others who might know of his deeds. He's afraid of how his legacy will come to affect Atreus, his son, and he's afraid that if the boy knows his history, he'll despise him. Or worse, turn out just like him.
They're both really bad but Zeus had the excuse of being corrupted and was under the influence of Pandora's box which made him act the way he did while Odin was always selfish and manipulative on his own naturally.
In God of War Ragnarök, it's likely that Kratos is around 1,055 years old. He's something of an old man, but as a demigod, he is still more than young enough to hold his own and then some in battle.

While in the Underworld, Kratos faces Hades. He ends up killing Hades and ripping out his soul. As if killing him wasn't enough, he just had to rip out the poor dude's soul. With this, Kratos releases all the souls of the Underworld.
