Step 1: After receiving the call, you should hang up. Step 2: Dial *57 on your phone. Step 3: Follow the directions provided to you by your phone company. Usually, it will ask you to enter the number of the last call you received.
Activate Call Trace
Pick up the phone and press *57 (touch tone) or 1157 (rotary). You'll hear a confirmation tone and message will be heard If the trace is successful. You must keep a written log of the date and time of harassing calls to retrieve Call Trace information.
To activate it, simply press *57. There is no charge for the connection, but charges and fees for using Call Trace may vary. The records of all traced calls will be released to a law enforcement agency only.
TrapCall is a tool that unmasks private and blocked callers. It can provide the phone number and the name the phone is registered to. It can also provide the caller's address and offers a blocklist option to block future calls.
Dialing *68 will disable the Caller ID for the next outbound / external call only. Selecting a line and dialing this feature code will result in a prompt on the phone display as well as an audible message: "Caller ID is BLOCKED for the next outbound call only."

Some carriers also allow you to dial *57 for a Call Trace option, but if the trace is successful you will not get the traced number directly, and will have to contact local law enforcement to get the information and prove that you have a legitimate reason for tracing the number.
Common “star codes”
*57 - Traces the number of the last incoming call received. *60 - Prevents calls from select phone numbers. *67 - Block phone number on Caller ID systems. *69 - Redial the last number that called you.

Pick the phone up and at the dial tone, press *66. If the line is free, the call will go through. If the line is busy, you may hear a message. The feature will retry the line every 60 seconds for the next 30 minutes.
Call forwarding is often enabled by dialing *72 followed by the telephone number to which calls should be forwarded. Once someone answers, call forwarding is in effect. If no one answers or the line is busy, the dialing sequence must be repeated to effect call forwarding. Call forwarding is disabled by dialing *73.
*66: Busy Call Return
The Busy Call Return service allows you to call a busy line over and over automatically for 30 minutes. When the line becomes free, your phone will notify you with a distinctive ring.
*31# (Disable Caller ID)
If you want to keep your privacy and prevent others from knowing when you call them, you can disable caller ID by using this code.
Call Block, otherwise known as Call Screening, is a feature that allows you to block calls from up to 10 phone numbers within your local calling area for a low monthly rate. Turn on: Press *60. If prompted, press 3 to turn the feature on.
With the *#62# settings interrogation code, you can see if calls or texts are being forwarded to another number whenever you're unreachable. If the "Voice Call Forwarding," "Data Call Forwarding," and "SMS Call Forwarding" all say they're disabled, good. If numbers are listed, they could be put there by someone else.
