If you need to loosen the bracelet to put it on, pull one knot toward the other moving toward the double strand portion of the bracelet. Slip the bracelet on. Position it in the right spot. Pull the knot toward the other knot, traveling away from the knotted section to tighten it for your desired fit.
An adjustable bracelet allows you to control the size of the jewelry around your wrist. Adjustable bracelets have a clasp that lets you make them bigger or smaller. A teen can adjust the size of her first tennis bracelet as she grows up, or a petite woman can change the size to fit her small wrists.
Bracelet sizes can be adjusted comfortably according to the wrist thickness of the person who buys it. It is also possible to reduce the chain in large bracelets.
A good fitting bracelet has a bit of extra space between itself and your wrist... but not so much that it slides up and down your forearm/hand. You should be able to slide 1 or 2 fingers under the bracelet and your wrist. A good tip is to treat bracelets like you would your watch – keep it under your sleeve.
The Chain Shortening Process
To shorten an item, the jeweler simply measures how many inches need to be removed from one area of the item. Next, they take out that portion and then reattach the clasp end to the rest of the necklace or bracelet that's been shortened.
