People aren't notified when you block them. After you block someone, their likes and comments will be removed from your photos and videos. Unblocking someone won't restore their previous likes and comments.
Instagram app for Android and iPhone
Tap in the top right, then tap Settings and privacy. Below How others can interact with you, tap Restricted. Tap Continue. Search for the account you'd like to restrict and tap Restrict next to their username, or tap Unrestrict to unrestrict someone.
First things first, if you block someone's number, they won't find out right away, if at all. They won't get a notification saying they were blocked and won't be able to see it plainly anywhere, but they can infer it.
Tap Who can see your content. Below Account Privacy, tap to check the box next to Private Account. Tap Switch to private to confirm. Keep in mind that business profiles aren't able to make their accounts private.
Blocking someone prevents them from commenting on your posts. But when you restrict them, you can both comment on each other's posts. The difference is that the comments from the restricted profile will only be visible to them and no one else. In other words, they will not know their activity has been restricted.
When you click the tag of an account that blocked you in a comment, their profile will come up. You will be able to see their number of posts, but where posts are usually found it says, "No Posts Yet" which is the telltale sign of being blocked.
If you can't follow a user on Instagram, it might be because they've blocked you. When you try to follow a user who has blocked you, you'll see a message that says "This account is private" or "User not found".
Blocking Someone on Android Messages and Apple iMessage
When you block a contact over Android or iPhone, they will still be able to send you text messages. These messages will not show up on your phone but the sender will see the messages as sent. They won't know that they've been blocked.
What happens when you restrict someone on Instagram? The Instagram restrict feature will hide your active status and the “read” indicator in direct messages. This is useful if you wish to avoid unwanted interactions with certain followers or users.
A soft block is when you temporarily block someone from viewing your tweets and interacting with you. In this case, you may want to limit someone's ability to interact with you or take a break from certain users but don't want to cut them off completely. A hard block is a more severe form of blocking.
Muting someone on Instagram is like the social media equivalent of politely excusing yourself from a conversation, without making a scene. When you mute someone, their posts and stories will no longer show up in your feed, but they'll still be able to see your posts, and you can visit each other's account pages.
You can't see who views your Instagram profile, but you can see who views stories and videos. For Instagram stories, you can see exactly who viewed your story while it's still live. For video posts, you can only see the total number of views and users who've liked the posts.
One of the simplest ways to hide your posts from someone on Instagram is to remove them as a follower and switch your account to private. This way, they will not be able to see any of your posts unless they request to follow you again and you accept them.
If you see the profile and the number of posts this person has shared, but the posts don't show up in the display area, that means they have manually prevented you from seeing their photos. If the profile doesn't appear at all after a search, this means that the account has either been deactivated or deleted.
Muting posts will not mute their stories, messages, or notes. They will not be notified when you mute them. The muted user can see your posts and stories.
Effects of Muting Someone on Instagram
You keep following them, but none of their content will appear in your news feed. The person that you muted will still be able to see all of your content as normal, and you can still search for and visit each others' profiles.
Restricting a user on Instagram is similar to blocking them—but a little more polite. Whereas blocking a user hides your entire feed and stories from them, the restrict feature simply hides their comments and messages from you while still allowing them to view your posts.
Soft blocks are sneakier than hard blocks. If you notice that you no longer follow someone without deliberately unfollowing them, but their profile doesn't say “blocked”, then they may have soft blocked you. Soft blocking involves blocking and then unblocking a follower so that they're removed from your follower list.
Question: Question 5 There are three types of blocking methods; fixed blocking, variable-length spanned blocking and variable-length unspanned blocking.
There isn't an in-built feature that notifies a user when someone stalks their account, so don't worry if you've recently stalked someone and are concerned that they might find out about it.
However, if you've recently noticed that you are unable to see a certain person's posts in your Instagram feed and it is not that they have a private account. Then, it is possible that they are inactive or simply haven't posted anything in a while.
If someone blocks you on Instagram, will their past likes and comments disappear from your posts? No. After blocking someone on Instagram this person's comments and likes wouldn't disappear from your posts. They will stay at the same place.
