One method you can use on any type of phone is by calling the person you suspect has blocked you. While typically you can expect to hear anywhere from three to 12 rings when you call someone before going to voicemail, a blocked number will only ring once and then go straight to voicemail, according to Tom'sGuide.com.
Try sending a text message
However, if a person has blocked you, you won't see either notification. Instead, there will just be a blank space beneath your text. It's worth noting that being blocked is not the only reason why you might not see a notification.
When you call a number that has blocked yours, you may hear one or half a ring or no rings at all and then the call will go to voicemail. If it goes straight to voicemail, their phone may also be off or out of range, or they may have temporarily turned on Do Not Disturb mode to work, drive, or sleep.
When you send them an SMS and you get the "Delivered" notification underneath it, you weren't blocked. If you get a notification like "Message Not Delivered" or you get no notification at all, that's a sign of a potential block.
A green bubble could also indicate that someone blocked you, especially when the bubbles have always been blue. When blocking occurs, iMessage sends your text, but the recipient never receives it. Your old messages remain blue, but the latest texts you send after they've blocked you turn green.
When someone that you've blocked texts you, their texts go nowhere. They won't receive any notification that they're blocked, and their messages will still look like they've been sent. But you won't receive any of them, and you can't respond.
You Can't FaceTime the Person
You can also try to FaceTime them using their phone number instead of their Apple ID, but that may not work either. You'll get a message that says, “Cannot reach this person right now.” If this happens, it means that person has blocked you.
If you have an iPhone and try to send an iMessage to someone who has blocked you, it will remain blue (which means it's still an iMessage). However, the person you've been blocked by will never receive that message.
Their device will continue ringing (on their end) until the blocked person eventually hangs up the call. You won't be notified in any way and (unlike with a standard voice call) the blocked person will not have an option to leave a voicemail.
If you make a call and receive an automated message along the lines of “the customer is unavailable,” that person's wireless carrier may have blocked you. The messages can vary, but the result is the same. Your call won't go through.
Method 4: Check the Color of the Text Bubble
If you have text message fallback enabled, your device will resort to sending the message as a text, meaning the bubble will turn green after someone blocks you. If you are not blocked, then the bubble will turn blue.
The answer is no, not via the Messages app. Even if you get a notification saying “Sent as Text Message,” this is somewhat deceptive. Your message was sent but not delivered. The recipient's device will never show your message.
So if you send a message to someone who has blocked you, then everything will look normal with you. You will also see Delivered Status if you send messages via iMessages - but the message does not reach the recipient. The recipient will also not be able to see that you have tried to send a message to them. Good.
If you see a green message bubble instead of a blue one, then that message was sent using MMS/SMS instead of iMessage. There are several reasons for this: The person that you sent the message to doesn't have an Apple device. iMessage is turned off on your device or on your recipient's device.
Blocking Someone on Android Messages and Apple iMessage
When you block a contact over Android or iPhone, they will still be able to send you text messages. These messages will not show up on your phone but the sender will see the messages as sent. They won't know that they've been blocked.
If you're blocked, you would only hear a single ring before being diverted to voicemail. An unusual ring pattern doesn't necessarily mean your number is blocked. It may just mean the person is talking to someone else at the same time you're calling, has the phone off or sent the call directly to voicemail.
They will get a one-ring disconnect or an automated message saying the call couldn't be completed as dialed. The device will reject all incoming calls when you block a specific number on your Android or iPhone.
When someone blocks your number, you don't receive a notification that it happened, so how do you know that you've been blocked? Still, a few key signs will give your blocker away. When you call the number, you may only hear one ring, or none at all, before the call goes to voicemail.
On Android: Go to "Settings" > "Call Settings" > "Additional Settings" > "Caller ID" > Select "Hide Number". Then your calls to the person who blocked your phone number will remain anonymous and you can bypass the blocked list. Call and Message Blocking is a temporary feature that lasts up to 90 days.
