All of these silicone products help hypertrophic scars flatten and lose their redness faster than untreated scars. Silicone sheets and silicone tape should be applied constantly for at least 3- 4 months. They should be removed daily for bathing and then reapplied.
How long do silicone scar sheets take to show results? Results vary depending on the individual and the type of scar. Some people may notice improvements within a few weeks, while others may require several months of treatment. For best results, consistently use silicone scar sheets as directed for at least 2-4 months.
Silicone scar sheets have been proven effective in treating several types of scars, including: Hypertrophic scars: These thick, raised scars are caused by an overproduction of collagen in the scar tissue. Silicone scar sheets help to flatten and soften these scars, making them less noticeable.
Normal fine-line scars
A minor wound like a cut will usually heal to leave a raised line, which will gradually fade and flatten over time. This process can take up to 2 years. The scar will not disappear completely and you'll be left with a visible mark or line.
CVS Scar Treatment Silicone Sheets are thin, self-adhesive, fabric-backed sheets that improve the appearance of existing scars and help prevent the formation of new scars. The sheets can minimize the appearance of discolored or raised scars, and even occasionally scars that are years old.
The scar should be completely dry and perfectly healed (usually about 3 weeks after injury assuming a well-healed scar). Ask your physician before you start silicone. You cannot use silicone on an open incision or an incision that is too recently healed.
Sheet should extend at least ½ inch beyond the area. Make sure your scar is clean and dry before application, free from any creams, gels, ointments, or powders. Peel off backing and apply to scar, sticky side down. Wear daily for 12 to 22 hours for approximately 3 months.
It is never too late to receive a scar tissue release massage. You may just need a couple of sessions to feel confident and comfortable to do this on yourself at home.
Scar massage is a way of softening and flattening scars. It can stop scar tissue build up and help make scars less noticeable. Your scar or scars will continue to grow and change for about twelve to eighteen months, so the earlier and more regularly you massage your scar, the less the chance of long-term problems.
Over time, raised scars tend to flatten, but flattening can take months or years. A raised scar is most likely to form on the chest, upper back, or shoulder area, but it can appear anywhere on your skin.

Both products are highly effective and both very popular. That said, in our experience a higher number of patients seem to prefer the silicone gel over the sheeting for its overall ease of use.
Many clinical control studies have reported evidence that silicone gel is effective in preventing and alleviating hypertrophic scarring. Whether silicone gel sheeting prevents hypertrophic scars or keloids requires clear evidence of its clinical effectiveness.
【REUSABLE and WASHABLE】: Silicone scar removal sheets each piece can be used repeatedly for 14 days, when the silicone scar strips is difficult to clean or paste, you need to replace another new scar removal patch.

Although younger scars will have a greater chance of improvement, studies have shown that older scars also benefit from regular use of Bio-Oil.
When do scars look their worst? For the first couple of weeks after surgery, a scar can appear red, angry and lumpy. Between approximately four and eight weeks, it can look wider and redder and, at times, worse than it looked initially.
Be extra careful near sensitive areas such as joints or bony prominences - they may contain more delicate tissue than other places on your body. In addition, avoid overstretching or pressing too deeply into the scar area since this can cause damage to the skin instead of helping it heal properly.
Massage the scar 2 to 3 times a day for 5 minutes each time. Massage every day for 6 months to 1 year after surgery.
Massage breaks them down and helps align the collagen fibers. How long does it take scar tissue to heal after surgery? Every patient and surgery is different but it typically takes about 6-8 weeks for scar tissue to heal.
A deep tissue massage breaks down adhesions and collagen fibres that can be caused as a result of scar tissue. Adhesions restrict movement and increase pain resulting in an increase in stress. Breaking down scar tissue through deep tissue massage relieves restriction to decrease pain and reduce stress.
It increases hydration of stratum corneum and thereby facilitates regulation of fibroblast production and reduction in collagen production. It results into softer and flatter scar.
Silicone restores that hydration, locking the moisture in that your body would otherwise lose naturally. And because scar tissue is vulnerable to hyperpigmentation from the sun's UV rays, silicone gels and sheets shade the scar so it doesn't darken.
Caring for your silicone gel sheet
Wash daily in a mild non-oily soap solution and rinse in clean warm water. Air dry and reapply to the clean dry scar area. Avoid using paper products for drying as it may stick to the silicone. Between use, store silicone in a plastic bag/container with plastic backing sheet.
