There are a grand total of 18 Halo rings that have been created during the Forerunners' reign. The first Array made up the original 12 rings, that were 30,000 kilometers wide each. They were created by the “Greater Ark”.
In-game, only seven remain, Installations 01 - 07. This does not include The Ark, which is considered Installation 00. In Halo: Combat Evolved, you fight on Installation 04, which is effectively destroyed when the Chief detonates the Pillar of Autumn's reactor core.

The Great Purification was the culminating act of the Forerunner-Flood war in 97,445 BCE, when the seven rings of the Halo Array were fired. The rings' combined pulses scoured the entire Milky Way galaxy, disabling the Flood and wiping out all sentient life that was not safely outside its range at the Ark.
Installation 04, also known as Alpha Halo, or simply Halo, was one of seven ring-shaped superweapons that comprised the Forerunners' Halo Array. It was located in the Soell system in the Orion Arm and was the closest Halo ring to the human sphere.
The Covenant reverentially described Installation 04 as either the First Holy Ring or the First Sacred Ring. It is the main setting of Halo: Combat Evolved, the first game in the Halo Trilogy.
